Questions regarding grow room

Okay so I have a closet I grow in and I ran 400w the first 2 grows.
I ended up getting a free dimmable 1k ballast/air cooled hood from a buddy and I want to put it to good use. My closet is 3.5x25x7(walk in closet). I sectioned off 3.5x8x7 and hooked the light up and it stays cool enough to comfortably touch the glass on the hood/grow room temps are sitting steady in the mid 70s. My question is...this ballast goes 500/750/1000w so should I run it at 750w or 1000w? the light intensity has to be pretty damn intense right under the bulb at 1k. Im only actually gonna be putting plants under a max of 3.5x5x7 in this grow. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I can only run 1 flowering light right now or I probably would have went dual 600s

Start with the 50% setting and build your way up over time.

Yeah I feel you on that, I was gonna start the light a bit high as well and lower down over time. Atleast these clones are grown under 400w hid lighting so it shouldnt be to stressful as long as Im careful like you said. Personally though would you stop at 750w or bump it up to 1k eventually? I know my room is a half foot short of what they say to use a 1k for(4x4) I only have 3.5x5 that Im gonna use so its kind of funky dimensions unless I get a light mover to take advantage of the really long closet. Any help would be awesome and thanks for the quick reply bro!

If your clones have been under a 400 watt light then the 50% setting will be like 500 watts.

A slight but safe increase in lighting intensity. I think a week at 50% followed by an increase to 75% is wise.

Having the bulb also placed initially high up in the tent while lowering over a few days does cut down the stress factor as well.

The plants will tell you if they like their lighting situation. Keep a close eye on them when you increase the light.
