Questions re: Co2, lights & clones...

My room is ~11 ft long by 8 ft wide with a side room of ~8 ft long by 2 ft 6 inches wide which I'd like to use for my start-up room for my clones. The roof has a pitch starting at 91 inches slanting down to 61 in the smaller room. I'll be taking the soil road this go about (debating hydro for the future). My questions:

* what do I need in my clone room to sustain, i.e. lights, fans, exhaust etc. etc.
* in my main room, what's the best way to get the Co2 to the plants? Am I over thinking this and is it as simple as plastic tubing dropped down into the girls? If someone has a photo that shows this level of detail, that would be cool...I'm a visual kind of girl....I did spend some time searching the threads....
* my 2nd light went away when I kicked the step- sons @$$ to the curb, so I have one, 1000 w HPS. I know more is always better, but w a room this size, will what I have suffice? I do have a rail already installed but would need to get a mover?
* can I keep a mother in with clones?

Appreciate your time-Mouse

as far as what you need for your clones, not much. I have a rubermaid tote, with two 23 x cfls for cloning. Start with one light on then switch to two after a week. Cloning requires very little light or air exchange.

It is a plastic tube hung from the ceiling around the tops of your plants. Put a bunch of small holes all down the tubing to release the CO2.

1K is good for 4x4 to a 6x6 area depending on who you ask.

You certainly can keep your mothers with your clones but you will need more lights.

Like Cirog said ... you don't need much to clone. A shoplight, a small nursery tray with a 7" or so dome and whatever nute you will use is all that is needed for up to 14 cuts or so.

You could root the cuts on the edges of your veg area under the lamp you use for it.

Sorry no pics Mouse but..... I used a tank with tubing and it was about as easy and safe as you could get. If you buy the regulator the tubing you would use comes with it. The only "work" is getting the tank refilled. If you don't want to use a tank you would need to use some type of CO2 generator.

Yes... you can keep a mother with your clones right under the flouros if that's what you use.

If you want to use that whole room for flowering you would need at least 3 1k lamps on a movers or 4 stationary 1k's. Best to seperate the room into flower and veg sections. With a 1k on a rail you can go 4 x 6 or more depending on how long the rail and what type of reflector you have. With no rail, "what socialist said".

Ok, cool - appreciate you guys taking the time. It really helps me out and gave me some reassurance.

Re: clones - my Husband surprised me and said he had several 400 watt MH's I could have, do you guys think this would work in the clone room? If so, then I wouldn't have to run out and buy anything for this room. (He said they would) not that I don't trust his opinion, but he's an outsider, not in.

As for the Co2, I did buy A Regulator kit and it came w the hose, it was used in the first grow but it wasn't my grow, it was the step sons and he's lazy so I wanted to make sure there wasn't a "better" way to distribute it. Thanks

WOW, I guess I was way off on my flower room lighting. I only have 1-1000 HPS and if my room is ~11x8...sounds like I need to go spend some money. OUCH!!! Even with my rail mover, if I decided to use it, I'm still going to need more lighting unless I cut my room down in size, hmmm decision-decisions

I don't have a dehumidifier so that’s another investment I need, I think, before I flip the lights on.

On a much Perkier subject, I worked my butt off today cleaning the rooms and wiping both rooms w bleach....I'm getting closer, sweet. It was a lot of work though!! I plan to go tomorrow and get the doctor doom bomb and some sulfur if the place has it available, I'm stoked.

Alright, thanks again for the time-have a great night. Feel free to reply back if you feel the need.

Another question regarding the clones: Cirog mentioned using CFLS's for the clones, using 1 for the first week and adding the second CFL during week 2. How long can I leave the clones as is, with these kinds of light conditions and how close should I have them below the lights?

THANK YOU (Go RAIDERS)

You can use the 400w MH but it is not necessary. I would use the CFL's if I were you. They use way less electricity and they produce way less heat. When using the CFL's keep them about 4" above the clones. the closer the better. use the MH in your veg once your clones are rooted and they will grow very well. But then again I would recommend investing in some T5's later so you can cut down on heat and electric still.

Hey Social....thanks for the info. I' ll have to look into those T5's as I know nothing about them. Anything to save a buck.

Have a super day - Mouse
