Questions on controllers

Where's the best place to learn about environmental controllers? Do folks recommend all in one solutions or are multiple controllers that control specific functions the way to go in terms of cost, reliability, etc.? (ie. one control for humidity, another light timer, another for cO2, etc.)

I've seen some DIY controllers, and maybe I will eventually try my hand at making some, but the whole electrical scene is probably the one DIY area I should avoid. It's not the safety aspect, more the the "I don't build things, it probably won't work long/well" side of things.

Anybody recommend some controllers? Cheaper is better for now, I don't know how well/unwell I'll perform with my first attempt(s). Whatever the opposite of a green thumb is, don't know if I have it yet :) Is there any particular store or vendor that's far and away a better option to deal with?

My apologies if this info is already posted, if you know where it's at do me a favor and point me in the right direction?

On hygrometers this time. What's a good, cheap combination temp/humidity reader out there? Something within 5% humidity I suppose? I surfed Ebay looking for some but every single one had reviews that they were inaccurate as hell or stopped working.

Again, if that's already posted and I missed it, point me in right direction is great :D

I found someone selling an MCC-1 by Green Air for $250, at that price, should I just jump on it? Also a shop nearby to that seller is selling a HAR-1 relay for use with this controller ($50 too). Is Green Air pretty top notch stuff? I see MCC-1's on the 'net for $600-700.

I know that I'm going to be a big proponent of automating my setup as much possible. Plan on having 1200-1800w of HPS flowering probably a 6x6ft (vertical) area. Not sure what I'm doing with the cloning/vegging lighting to be honest... going with air extraction and no Co2 just yet. Will have a heater, humidifer, dehumidifer, fans, and I hope to God some kind of automated watering method that'll work out.

Are any controllers out, reasonably priced of course, that allow for system control via IP device? (computer, smartphone, etc.)

Doubt it. I've been waiting for a reasonably priced one for monitoring/controlling large reef tanks. That's a much bigger market and there still isn't a good controller available that doesn't cost your left nut.

Of course, most reef keepers tend to have a lot of money so maybe that has something to do with it.

I second Hammerhead's recommendation for dxsoundco. I have one of his units and am very happy with it.
