question on pot size...

I'm wondering just how small of a conainter I can get away with useing. I've got a 400w HPS bulb, and am thinking of doing a small sog using clones with 0 days veg time. I know a gallon pot will work, but could I get away with a half gallon or a quart pot? The strains are: OG Kush, Blueberry, Sour Flo, Grand Daddy Purple, and The hog. What do ya think, how small of a container have you been able to use, without majorly affecting the plant with being root bound??

yep, 1 gallons are perfect. I wouldn't go any smaller either. The general rule for pot size is 1 gallon per foot of growth on the plant.

With 0 veg, they can handle a half gallon pot but a 1 gallon definitely won't hurt them. If you're concerned about not being able to fit enough of them in there with 1 gallon pots, you shouldn't be...they'll need that much room for the leaves anyhow.

It's good to hear that a half gallon pot will work for them, the reason I ask is that I have limited space. Where 5 or 6 1 gallon pots will fit, I know I can fit 10 1 quart pots, and I am betting about that many half gallon pots. So the thought that I might be able to double the amount of plants in the same space does sound appealing, expecially if it doesn't cut the normal yeild in half.

I use 1 liter pots and rarely get much more than a quarter ounce a plant. But they are 3x3 inches so you can fit a whole lot of them. My blueberry does perfect in that space, most of the other strains i tried leaves' span was a little hard to work with, but do-able. I've not had many problems with root-bound plants from clones thrown directly into 12/12, mostly just the bog cuts I ran, but to be fair they were grown in solo cups ;)
I say go for it, more plants the better. The work is worth the colas. My measly quarter a plant does sound crappy but multiply that by 50 under a 400 watt and your math will be hazy for a long time (at least mine is).

Consider grow bags, they're smaller than pots and more flexible. You could go 2-3 gal size...or 1 gal and more plants.

and with grow bags they "bend or squeexe together" and you can fit a few more in your space.
