so i've got a tied down plant, can i just leave it tied down so when the plant's stem thickens it expands with it or can it grow around it like a tree would, if that makes sense?

thanx for your help

In a plants constant pursuit to grow towards the light the branch will strengthen and thicken and eventually the end of the shoot will start growing upwards beyond your tied point. you can release your tie anytime after your desired period or you can leave them tied for the entire cycle. Its up to you. You use the ties to even your canopy or whatever your heart desires. Its a great way to increase yield and lower your overall height.

Here's a picture of my trained sat dom hybrid. I hope I was a little helpful. your post wasn't super clear.

Thanks,

Chief

PS pipe cleaners work the best that I've seen at training ties

I think I get what you're asking. If I do understand you correctly, you will likely find that as the plant grows to the size where this may come into play, you will need to reposition the ties anyways depending on when you began training it.

i'll try again, if i tie the plant down the stem will thicken and expand outwards as it grows if i have it tied down now when it's young do i have to loosen the rope or can the rope stay tight and the plant will get choked bty the rope

I like to use the plastic tape they sell for training tomatoe vines. it will stretch just enough to prevent cutting like green supreme mentioned. It is also fairly cheap.
