Question for those that use Miracle-Gro Tomato Plant Food to grow with

Hoping I can find someone else that has used the Miracle-Gro Tomato Plant Food 18-18-21 red powder that you can find at any Home Depot/Lowes.

It has a spoon with what looks like a tablespoon sized side and the other which look like maybe 1/2 a teaspoon.

Just finished a grow where I fed with the 1/2 tsp side - one per gallon of water. Every time I watered. Hoping someone else has used this and can give me an idea of how far they pushed it with this fert and what worked best for them.

Used with standard potting soil with no ferts added, just some lime and perlite.

Thanks

I'm sure someone has used it but I would about anything would be better than miracle gro.

You can pick up Epsoma products at those places and it is organic.

What worked best for me...
No need to measure, apply entire container to the trash can, and start with something else.
Good luck finding someone else who uses that garbage :tiphat:

I have always paid allot of $$ for my ferts in the past, been doing this for over 10 years. Ran out of age old organics and just picked some up for 5 dollars, I used it to do a cycle with, used from veg through flower. Been doing the same strain for over 5 years now, fed till like 5 days before the chop. Seemed to cure to the same and burns the same as every other cycle I have had before. So I am not really getting the hate.

The plants can't tell how much you spent on the nutrients.
Now don't get me wrong I'm sure some are better than others with whats in them and how it's available to the plant. But for the most part, any all purpose fertilizer given in proper amounts will give decent results. At least short term, I'm don't know about salt build up over the long term .
Best of luck and may all your Buds be Huge

Use the big spoon for gallons. Use the small spoon when the plants are small.

Wow, I was feeding them only 1 of the small spoons per 1 gallon every watering (every 3/4 days) (even at the peak time in flowering) because I assumed it was going to be pretty strong. Guess I will push it more next time.

Thanks

No hate toward you friend :huggg: just the MG/Scott's company.
5 day flush ?

OK, good :) I don't get the hate for the company though. I guess I don't know enough of their history. Most large companies are shady in some way or another I guess..

Yep, 5 days. I am also re-using the soil now(its been like 80 days) to see how that goes. I usually re-use my soil 3-4 cycles. If the post above was right I had been feeding them at around 1/4 strength last cycle. My soil was neutral when I tested it after mixing it back up after removing all root matter. Going to push it more this next time then I guess.

Thanks, yeah I am going to find out, if I can't re-use the soil like I have in the past multiple times. Then I guess it's not that great even if it is cheap.

Did you see any deficiencies? Or did you experience slow growth?
If not be careful increasing strength or you may do more harm than good.

edit: I guess it depends on how often you want to feed as well a weaker dose more often or a stronger dose once or twice a month.

It's part of the Monsanto conglomerate....Scott's/Miracle Grow and other companies. Hard to NOT buy anything that is not connected with Monsanto....foods, fertilizers, soil, etc.. That's why many are against the product.

And now Bayer wants or did buy Monsanto.

In earlier decades, I used MG Tomato food with good results. Make sure you flush or use only water for the last 10+ days or so. Nasty to taste synthetic fertilizer inhale/exhale. Ugh!

If your method works for you, why change it? Consistent low dose seems to work....

I do flush with plian water. If you want to reuse soil. You can let it set out in the rain.
Rinse soil thoroughly (to dissolve any residual salt build up) and replenish with worm castings, other organic amendments.

If we reuse soil (rare occasions), we bake the soil, then add castings, blood, bone meal, mycorrhizal and Azomite.
