Question bout mixing nutes

Guest

I have read that letting your water set for 24 hours is good to let chlorine and other things dissapate and stabilize. The question I have is there are additives in the aquairium supplies section in most super stores like wal-mart, that can be used to take chlorine out of your water to help it better suit your fishes. Can this be used to remove chlorine and other things from nutrient water faster than letting it set for 24 hours.

Just wondering.

I would just let it sit for 24 hours instead of using an additive. It's just too easy to let it sit. And hey, beside the point I guess, but I've never nce let my water sit out and have never experienced problems. But that could just be me and my regions water.

Good luck

Mo I've used it

Mo I've used it

Fish Live with it.
But it will Build up Salts if used
over a long time.

I've never tried it in Hydro.

But if used as directed I didn't see any harm
or benefit in Soil. So why bother if a 24 hr. sit don't bug yeah.

Im not sure how the stuff works.
Works with Fish.

We have a lot of salt in our local water / I buy 2 - 5 gal jugs of RO drinking water - one is always siting & I have been mixing nuets the day before in 1 gal jugs

Bout the only thing I see the benefit with is the ph may lower it's self after a 24 hour sit, keep you from having to adjust it to much.

Thanks for indulging my mind ramblings. :D

The benefit i think is the chlorine being gone. As it wuill kill off not only nasties...bit also beneficial bacteria too I think???

I would let it sit

Hey Bigmo,

I would let the water sit. Not only is chlorine removed but also fluoride. You can assist the process by bubbling air though the water. Using the fish stuff will get chlorine out but won't do much for the other nasties. Additionally, it binds into a salt which can lead to salt build. If you have the opportunity get a RO unit---your plants will love you for it. :canabis:

I havent noticed too much ph fluctuation by letting the water sit. I usually fill my jugs after I water and they end up sitting for a few days before the next feeding. I have measured the ph right out of the faucet and then again after 3 days and saw no change. I usually wait to mix my nutes and ph balance until the day of the feeding though. I just think it might be fresher that way, but there is no documentation that I have read to suggest I am right

We used to get these 5 gallon clear plastic jugs and leave the top off and place them directly in the sun for days, more than24 hours, nothing burns off chlorine better than mother nature.

Sounds like letting it set is the consensus. m.steelers I wasn't sure I was just assuming that the ph would fluctuate due to the chlorine and other stuff evaporating. RO unit is the way to go I agree.

Mo - I thought so too and was surprised when I came back 3 days later and there was no change.... I just got a new ph meter about a month ago so I have been doing all kinds of testing :biglaugh:
