Question about WH21 LittleGreyBox timer 4 Hotwaterheater

Ok, I installed this hot water heater timer last night to turn my lights on and off. Finished at 2:30 am set the on off switches and went to bed. Lights were on thought everything was fine. Had it set to turn off at 9:00 am but when I went down to check at 10:00 lights were still on and the clock hadn't moved from the 2:30 position. You pull the wheel out to set the time on it and it automaticaly goes back in, which I assume is supposed to start the timer moving. I'm stumped. Don't know if there is something that can be done or if something was broken on the timing mechanism when I bought it.
Any advice or input would be appreciated. Propa

The type clock I've used I always pushed the wheel back in to get it operational. If you bought it new there ought to be instructions you could always read

arg. Don't get it should be workin there is only six places to connect on the timer board they are from left to right-
- ground screw- -neutral screw(white)if present(not using but i tried wiring using it) , other four are (1) line 1 (2) load 1 (3) line 2 (4) load 2.

Using 12-2 romex from breaker i attached black to (1),white to (3), and ground to ground.
Then coming back from my gfci recepticle with same 12-2 romex I attached black (2), white to (4), and ground to ground.
So from left to right-both groundwires upper left, blackline, blackload, whiteline, whiteload.
When i flip the manual on off switch juice goes through to the recepticle and works.
But timer isn't working. Is there something i did wrong that is'nt allowing the timer mechanism to get juice? I hooked the first one up a few times then exchanged it. And have hooked this one up a few times, made sure the wheel is pushed back in to where the teeth from gears should engage and still nothing. If its working should I be able to hear the timer mechanism working if I put my ear near box?

58,Oldfam,Sandman- thanks guys
When I took the second box back I got a regular timer, same box but had less screw to hook into and so far seems to be working fine. Exactly what you said in your second sentence Sandman clock wouldnt function cause I was using 120v. Problem appears to be solved. This deserves a smoke break....

sheesh, shoulda read the specs beforew poking holes in both clocks. you're lucky they at least took one of em back.
once you bust a K.O. out of anything, it's usually yours to keep.
