My friends and I are coming to Amsterdam. THis trip is planned for April. I was curious about a few things, and hoped you could help me out. First I would like to purchase seeds. I was curious if I could get them back in my luggage? Also, where would you recommend we stay? OR in what area? I definitely wanna be near the town center. Wanna be near shops. What coffeshops would you reommend, that give good buds for good prices. This is my first trip and I am so stoked! And is there any places that would offer packages? Includig air and hotel? I have had good luck with hotels at this site. http://www.hotels.nl I will also be in Amsterdam in April.It has been my experience that package deals are not that effective for saving money.I recommend that you reserve a hotel near Dam Square and soon.Make sure that the site you use has a liberal cancellation policy so you can cancel if a better deal comes up.One of my favorite coffeshops near Dam Suare is Amnesia.Great atmosphere,smoke,and mango shakes that are out of this world.Maybe the 420 party will be finalized sometime before April 20th.Good luck and have a great time in April.

One more thing.If you have never stayed at a european hotel be very careful on what you get.Things like a private bathroom are not always part of the deal.For a first trip you can not go wrong with a Dam Square location.You will be in the middle of lots of coffeshops,shopping,restaurants,red light district,and the trams can easily take you anywhere you want to go.Man April is a long way off.

Thanks BigBird. Are you from the USA? If so in the past what was the average you have paid for say 5 nights, and roundtrip airfare. Also, what are the prices over there? I have heard around 7-10 euros a gram. Can u buy quantity? Not HUGE amounts, but 1/8's or 1/4's? Thanks

I would expect it to be about $1200us for plane plus hotel.I booked early and got the Krasponalsky for 89 euro a night.This hotel is right on the square.Grey Area does sell 1/8 I have heard do not know the price.There is a 5 gram limit on purchases but sometimes they will go over.About 8-10 euro a gram for top bud sometimes shops will go down to 5 euro a gram for 5 gram purchases.I have only been to Amsterdam once so I may be missing some of the better deals.

You wont want more than 3 grams of any one kind Fuzzy. There are so many candies to try the prices won't seem bad to you. Everyone shares all their buds so freely in the coffeeshops that it really doesn't matter what you buy because you will try so many strains.

You see 2 years back Bonguru did what I pushed for and we with Gypsy's hesitant support had the first one as a test run. Last year was bigger but it was still my idea that we have a celebration in Amsterdam every 420. Gypsy lost a bundle however.
I have done all that I can to support and promote the event because this is the one thing per year that I really look forward to. Can you see how much we deserve this? Lets make it big this time.
The online world can go only so far and eventually a convention is always needed when people of like interests long for community. We become a gang come 420 and you can be there with us. I found a room for about 100 euros a night within 5 minutes of everything and with a view from my window of Grand Central Station. The weekend rates usually go up and I havent found package deals to save money. Get your best airline deal first and then go to that site to find your chosen hotel and don't go less than 3 stars is my advice cause they can be kinda dumpy. BOG

I am staying at the Krasnapolsky Apartments.I paid 89 euros a night in February.The same place now costs 120 euro a night.It is on Dam Square but you have to stay for a week minimum in the apartments.I have not stayed there before but have heard some good things from other people.

Hotel Ibis is a start. SEveral locations. I have stayed at Ibis Stopera on some external side of centrum. Not bad, but not great. Ass stains on the sheets? 3 star. I saw the NH Barbizon and was very impressed. It's on the high side. Others I like to consider staying in are Die Port van Cleve, and NH Doelen. But that is just what is catching my eye.
BTW 3g is an 1/8 where I come from. But I quit buying dope a long time ago. Save for the Dam.

well lurk... an ounce is 28 grams, an 1/8th of an ounce is 3.5 grams. 28 divided by 8 = 3.5

Some of the best deals to be found for hotels are often done with the benefit of knowing your way around the place, but yes, I would agree that hotels.nl is a great site to start with... I'm heading over to the 'Dam at the end of the week for a few days, and while I'm there, I shall be checking out a few of the hotels that don't advertise on the web for a good deal on accommodation for myself and some of my friends during an upcoming visit in February...
An awful lot will depend on just how fussy you are about the rooms and facilities, but generally, as with the flights, the earlier you book 'em, the better! There are a lot of great budget places if you don't mind "roughing" it a bit and eurocheapo has some good alternatives...
Some of my friends, for example, will refuse outright to stay in a place that doesn't have anything less than five stars on the sign outside, but my view is that if the room is clean and comfortable - and cheap - then go for it! :smile: At the end of the day, most of us are going there for one thing - the weed, so the hotel doesn't need to be the next best thing to the Hilton.
I had found a good deal at Le Meridien Apollo, booking online with hotels.nl, when I was looking for a room for myself and my girlfriend, at a 60% reduction for booking over the net, but now I'm going by myself, so I've opted for a much cheaper deal at the Hotel Vijaya, I think it is... Much closer to the center of town, and with breakfast included in the price too!
Watch out when you're booking to see if they have included the Citytax in the price - this is another 5% on top! Some places advertise for the room only, not per person - more surprises if you're stoned when you're booking!!!
Lots to do and lots to see - food is quite cheap, depending on taste - just beware of some of the pizza vendors who'll quite happily slip you a slice of cold, 6-hour-old pizza if you're not watching closely! Kebabs can be a bit safer in that respect, but there's plenty of restaurants that'll cater to anyone's palate...
The weed itself can range in quality from the more touristy places like the Grasshopper and the Bulldog to the better joints like the Grey Area and de Dampkring, but if you're spending up to a week there, jump on a train to Haarlem and grab some real tasty treats from any of the Willie Wortel shops there - it's cheaper and IMHO better quality than a lot of the gear floating around the 'Dam! Proper Nepalese Temple Ball for a start!
My first stop is generally the Grey Area (if it's open!) to grab an eighth of the Grey Haze, then sample the delights of the other venues as I go... BOG's right - there's so much choice, you shouldn't need more than 3g of any one variety anyway... and when you get to that last morning before the flight home and you have half a dozen bags still to get through - phew!
