question about seed embryos

Hello there. Im not a new grower, just have a newbie question.

There are many threads on hermies, but I want to ask a few questions.

I have grown plenty, but never been paranoid about hermies until now, for various reasons. This has led me to breaking open calyx after calyx. On every plant, whether it came from a calyx with withered pistil, or bright white pistils I found a tiny seed starting, or its just the embryo.

Im leaning towards embryo because the things havent changed in size from the time I started checking around day 21, until now, day 40. The things are greenish white and all the same size from different plants, but im wondering at what rate seeds develop? I know they take 3 to 5 weeks to mature if they are seeds, but do the seeds blow up in size in days, or do they grow at an even rate?

Ill try and post a pic I took of them. They are roughly the size of a single fine grain of pepper.

Thanks for input.

the black spec in a fine grain of pepper, and the other thing is a pistil, bent in 1/2 on itself like a horseshoe. The seed embryo things are about the same diameter of the pistil.

Hey man, I'm not sure if this answers your question, but I hope it helps. I've grown a few hermies before and one thing I noticed, is that mine dropped pollen before the seeds were visible (I'm pulling from waaay back in my memory bank there!). I found the pre-flowers look female, so it's hard to tell.

Best of luck man!

On mine, the seeds did grow in side the calyx though, so I'd say give it some time and you'll find out!

thanks for the input so far guys.

I will of course keep checking them daily.

Can anyone familiar with seed production tell me if seeds mature in bursts or do they just keep getting bigger and bigger at a steady rate?

I can't answer your question, infact i just posted about this yesterday. they are in EVERY caylx and i dont think it is normal, to say the least. I feel your pain. When pollination has occured in the past i have noticed a herm and the pollen...then that hits a flower and the pistil withers out and a fatty bo batty seed is mature and mottled waaayyyy before any trichs or buds swell out.
have you looked into Mel Frank's books? There is some interesting literature there regarding plant morphology from various environmental factors/ age of plants etc. this is plaguing my mind.
