question about scrog..

Im growin 2 ice plants in a spare closet right now n they are a lil over 2 weeks old. Is scrog the best way to get the best yield in small space? I only have 2 plants so would a scrog be worth it? On top of that a cfl scrog...I haave a feeling height might be an issue if I don't scrog. Please leave some input!

do you know if both the plants are female?
if not then a scrog might be counter productive

with cfl's scrog is probably the best method of growing....LST being 2nd
perhaps you can let the plants show preflowers and then take cuts to run a scrog

Why clones, by the way? By the time you find out which plants are male and female from seed, it would be impossible to extract the males from the foliage wound into the screen and fill in the gaps with female shoots, without a real mess on your hands. Seed plants also waste several inches of height before a mature stem section is reached from which branching can begin, whereas clones branch right from the medium. Height control is typically a limiting factor in cabinet growing. With female seeds it may be possible to grow a predictable scrog by raising the screen height, making up for the wasted stem length

the plants are from feminized seeds so they better be female! Thanks for the input man..Probably gonna have more questions concerning this cuz I think im gonna switch it up to a scrog

that or just LST train them using bendable wire, bread ties, fish hook weights, string, whatever you can think of

im kinda hesitant to do LST for some reason...I juz don't like the idea that the plant is bent like a bitch..Well at this point im hesitant on changing anything cuz im broke. If i choose to use the scrog method is it still okay to top the 2 plants? I juz don't want plants that are tall as hell cuz i believe getting lighting above them would be a problem for me later on

LST's nothing to be intimidated about, it's just selectively bending or tying up branches and leaves to maximize light usage and penetration. almost necessary for me, cause i run a 250W HPS and have 3 plants

i would still say the scrog method is more efficient tho ...due to being able to fully train the branches on a horizontal plane...it's easier to fill the whole grow space which makes for more buds in the end

but there are always exceptions....this being said , i have yet to see a properly done LST that would out yeild a properly done scrog

you should see some of the undershots of my scrog....branches every which way and bent to fill as needed

it wont hurt the plants to bend branches...just be carefull not to snap em

well im fixing to pull a 6-8 ounce lst in 4 sq.ft in the next 50 days...and i will do a scrog next with the same strain and see which yields better..i know the scrog will...but its a lot more work in my humble opinion...peace

also remember to try an bend/train plants when they are in need of a watering, less prone to snapping of stems and branches. peace

and i agree again...scrog is definitly more work by a good bit.......but it's only training 1-2 times a week for 3 weeks or so at the most.
i like the challenge , it's fun to try and max out the screen and find that perfect scrog

they're both great methods and i've also seen some pretty sweet small scale SOG's .....it's fun to experiment

well thanks for all the input i didn't expect to get that much. I started a grow journal on GC but hardly any replies..seems like more ppl have input overhere which i appreciate. Im gonna be posting some pics of my grow space and current setup..Its pretty ugly w/a lot of light leakage but im still optimistic! Another question..to start off w/nutes which brand do u guys recomend? I only have access to fox farm,pure blend, n earth juice...at this point in leaning towards earth juice...

if you ask me a scrog is just another type of low stress training so when you say lst you are really just talking about any type of training that isnt hacking the bitches up.

when i train a plant <depending on the strain> i'll top, tie them down, and scrog lol i think thats the way to go but they all work.

Hi from south america

weel actually i`m working on my 5th scrog...this time got a NL whit 29 days of flowering...and i just have 1 clon whit 42 days of veg and then flowering... i work Lst once a week....i really think scrog is the best way to a big harvesting ...like 200 and 215 grs under 250 HM/HPS...

well...i really think it`s better to work whit clones... cuz they alway got multiples top buds y grow faster...i`ll be wathcing this thread....sorry for my english

your scrog looks nice man. Im workin w/cfls so ill see how it is. Im thinkin bout postin some pictures of the closet im using so maybe I could get some ideas of what people think and what would be a good small inexpensive setup.

You can make a screen using a metal coat hanger and some string or wire.

Just attatch the screens to the pots.
