I was just curious how a normal non gang affiliated person would make it in State or Fed?

From everyone I've talked to State is really jacked the hell up and everyone tells me you have to join with either the black, mexican or whites otherwise you're fcked ... literally :nono:

Anyways was just wondering if anyone had experience and knew what would be expected.

i've known a few people who have gone to state and from what i've gathered, it's worth your while to head off into the woods rather than be in there

And most that have been will really play up the negative to look like a badass,"thats right we bad..".Not that most major institutions need any negative re-inforcements,they can be hell but are you planning on murder or robbery? This was my experience and I'm sure its the same in most states. After conviction your first stop from the jailhouse will be "processing".Unfortunately this is normally done in major institutiuons so you must watch your ass.By this I mean carry yopurself like a man and mind your own business, not act like a badass.Thats the wrong route despite what too mant TV watchers here say..Anyway during processing they will determine your custody level. In the state I was in there are three levels,A B and C.C custody are the murderers and rapists and they don't ever see the outside of a major institution.B custody is where I landed which is a work camp swinging a bushaxe on the highways under armed guard.A custody is normally working on a job without armed supervision. On a cannabis charge you will be B custody at worst and possibly A custody if you can hustle the counselor determining your demeanor.Pot growers don't bunk with Rufus the triple murderer,at least that wasn't the way it was 25 years ago.

Info I wanted was definitely not for C, guess I forgot/didn't realize that different people were in different catagories, that's kind of good to know.

Also wondering how does getting a job work? Easy to do or hard to do?

I'm gunna' guess you'll be going to prison is why you're asking all these questions? I did a google search for "prison forums" or "prison message boards" and found quite a few. Perhaps you'd be better off asking your questions in one of them.

Hope its not you going to the big house. That would really be to bad.

While alliances certainly can be beneficial to some extents, they can also yeild problems.

In brief, you don't HAVE to join anything. Merely standing up and being a man is usually sufficient enough to stave off any serious problems. "Being vague with an ounce of grain." is a good habit to get into. In other words, don't be a chatter box, but don't be afraid to answer something honestly without giving too many details.

If you're ever in earshot of anything, the respectful thing to do, is hear nothing and stick to that. "Its none of your business" another good mindset. If someone wants you to know something, you'll be told directly.

Depending on your stature, demeanor, etc. there are not always, yes and no answers to questions... meaning sometimes to share a boat is better than to take a definite stance on something. Inmate A: "You gotta a smoke?"... Inmate B: "I was looking for one myself actually..." Not a yes, not a no, and in no way offensive.

You don't necessarily have to stare at the ground, but don't be "eyeballing", or "mean mugging" either. This falls back into the "nunya bidness" policy, which all falls back into the, just stand up and be a man issue that The American briefly mentioned above.

You might be asked to 'hang around' one of forementioned groups if you seem like you're just a straight forward guy just doing his time like everyone else. This is a compliment, you don't have to make a big to do about it, but a simple "thanks" can be rewarded with extra eyes watching out for you. And I do recommend at least doing the "meet and greet". To say "no" in some cases can be an insult, but usually would just be missed opportunity.

Opportunity is something of a treasure within itself if you're to be doing some extended length of time. Good books to be read, conversation to pass the time, and yes even educational opportunities that can lead to a better foot outside once you parole.

Hope this answers a few questions for you. I was vague in areas, intentionally of course but you get the idea. :joint: Best of luck.

honestly if your going to the pen, id suggest you keep your mouth shut your eyes on the floor and only speak when spoken to. During your exercise time or yard time stay to yourself. The other inmates in there are looking for people to lash out and thats where they find there prey, to keep them selves entertained (fights, shit like that) My brother did 8 years in a maximum security prison. His first week in there he saw someone killed due to a racial beef going on in there, just stay to your self and you should be fine

It would be easier if you told what you are going in for. The crime determines what type of prison you'll be going to.
Word JJ ... And it will determine how you are treated by your Peers. For Instance ... Sex crimes usually are answered by rape ... and you don't want to have hurt a child ... If you have plan on doing a Hard Stretch and seriously entertain the possibility of not coming out of said Penal Facility ... Killers get respect (and a wide berth) and Master Thieves do too ... Everyone wants to know what you did and how you did it ... Prison didn't reform me. It made me a better criminal. No matter who you are or where you go someone is going to Test you. If you thought the machinations of the Outside World were complex you're In for a view at Manipulation by Imtimidation at it's worst. I wish you the best. Stay to yourself and read lots of books and magazines (these can be made into a crude but effective Body Armor).

I know a couple of friends who have been in US prisons. They tell me two main things:

1. Stick to your own race

2. Don't disrespect anybody

Hell, I'd not feel too bad about going into a British prison, but no way would I entertain the idea of going in a US jail, I'd be off to Mexico in a flash. Last time I was in Cancun i met loads of cool US guys who were hiding out there. I was bathing in the sea one day and met a huge Cajun guy from the Bayou who had a really thick french accent and talked pure Cajun, he had a two foot pointy beard and had just arrived, really cool guy who got caught with a couple of pounds of weed in his truck and was looking at a few years, he just ran to Cancun and had had no difficulty settling in, getting a place to live etc. in just a few days. Another guy I met had gone AWOL from the Marines cos he failed a drug test and was gonna go to military prison, he had been there a year and was having a great time. Another guy was there becauce he had used his chemistry degree to learn how to make all kinds of drugs and got caught by the DEA for running a lab. The DEA wanted him and he'd been hanging out in Cancun smoking weed and snorting the high grade coke that's really cheap there for over 2 years.

So all in all, if you are goign to go in a US prison, just get the hell outta dodge, South America is very cheap and some countries pretty safe. Uruguay, Argentina and Peru are all places I would consider running to if I was facing prison.

HORRIBLE ADVICE , BH. haha

Unless I was looking at a really really long time on some bullshit charge I'd just go ahead and do the time

I can't imagine being on the run for the rest of my life, and never being able to come home or visit family and friends.

And you'd be an illegal, if you got caught doing ANYTHING, even maybe just crossing a border or BEING there, you'd get locked up in a South American prison or deported back to the US where you'd get a lot worse sentence for running, but that would still beat them south american prisons.

The two options present themselves
1) Spend the remainder of your time free lifting weights, you're gonna wanna be in shape to deal with these guys
2) If you can, leave the country, being free in the 3rd world is still a hell of a lot better than being in a federal prison.
