question about PO boxes

was not quite sure which section to post this in...

I plan on using a PO box for seeds, no other options right now. it's much cheaper to get the 3"x5.5" box, but I'm not quite sure if the envelope they come in will fit in there. does anyone know if it will? I threw all the old ones I've had away, so cannot measure them. If it doesn't fit, will the postman jam it in there or will I have to ask someone at the counter for it?

Don't worry about it.

Don't worry about it.

I have bought seeds from DrC and SeedBoutique to my po box (smallest size) without a problem. Got another shipment coming now as a matter of fact. As long as you aren't ordering a hundred seeds you should be fine.

He will just jam it in there.

And theres no difference of picking it up from the box or asking a clerk. If they are going to bust you, it will happen either way if thats your concern. And I am 99.9999 % sure they are not going to follow some seeds all the way through the mail, just to see who picks them up.

Get the small box, and get your grow on !!!

Good luck

Don't worry

The small boxes handle the package just fine. Just don't act paranoid when you sign up.

Get the smallest box, when a package too big for the box comes ,they leave a key in your box to a larger box that the package will fit in .So any size item can be delivered to any size box

So whats the difference between having them sent to your mailbox or a P.O. Box??? Either way if they know whats going on your going to get busted! Your name is registered to that PO box correct...if so, there should be no difference in my opinion.:2cents:

I laugh at Paranoia :muahaha:

It puts one more step between you and the grow. Seeds sent to a grow house, now they suspect that house and lock in on it doing garbage pulls etc. A PO box, they need to find where you live etc.

Not much difference really, just a little more work. And I dont know if anyone has been busted over a seed order

if they catch a seed order and are going to go as far as checking out the house they are sent to, than they will go as far as looking to see who and where the PO box is registered and go there.. they aren't going to stop and go 'oh its a PO BOX, never mind' If they are going to take the incentive to act on it than either way...

but hopefully the place you grow at isnt the same place thats on your drivers license and or have the seeds grown at.. than it doesnt matter if you have them sent directly to your grow spot.. its luck of the draw if your seeds get intercepted so why not make it most convienant and have them sent to your grow spot instead of a PO box that has the address of your grow spot on it as this would be the first place they would look either way

now if your grow spot is differnet than the address on your license than by all means get a PO box.. sure they can monitor your house and where you live but if you are careful you can cover your ass on the grow spot and they will never know

Yes... go ahead and disclose all your personal information for that po box... or not...

can't have them sent to my residence.

it's either have it sent to a p.o. box or tell a friend what's up and have it sent to their house... would rather not have to do that.

brodus24, I am curious about that also. Do you have to show ID when picking up stuff from your box or are you good to go with just a key? Also, what is the process of setting up a PO box? What type ID and questions do they ask ect.? Anyone have experience with this that can chime in? Thanks in advance!

No, at the U.S. Post Office you get a key and that's that...although you DO have to show ID if a package arrives and it's too big for your box (they leave a notice in your box). The person it's addressed to must pick up the package.

The workaround of course is if you see a slip, buy your friend a beer and tell him he's got mail.

An extension of this is to get a Mailboxes Etc. address in a neighboring state. If you know someone there, you're golden. This of course is only good if you live within an hour of the border. While you're getting your mail, do your grow-shop shopping over there too, with a prepaid CC.

But the best option of all is to pay a friend who doesn't grow to order for you with a prepaid credit card--you're fully removed from the loop. Pay him in bud--I don't know any smoker who would turn down free kind nugs for doing something that really can't get him/her in any trouble (if a package is confiscated you only get a letter, nothing further happens, and he/she used a different name to send to their home address, further absolving him/her).

The Wife Factor

The Wife Factor

My wife does not really want me to grow. At least not till we retire, and she has full access to all my 401K money as she is sure I'll end up in jail, and as I have a really good job. She is overstating the risks, and although Texas where we live has a bad reputation, we are in the Austin area, and Texas law does not distinguish against living or dead pot -- first time offense, no record, up to a pound, probation and drug education. Plus Texas is very much your home is your castle and leave me alone mentality, so I hear its hard to get search warrants, and any way I am a middle aged businessman, would just grow for 1 person, and am really smart with no stoner friends in the area. But so far, I've failed to convince my wife.

My wife said, if I grow for now, she wants nothing traceable to her, and I'd have to do some outdoor guerrilla grows or some other untraceable way. So I am considering a mailbox etc. type box so I can order beans in a way that is not traceable to my wife and gives her complete deniability. I'm even thinking of telling the people at the mailbox store not to ever contact me at home as this box is for me to order things I don't want my wife to know about, and the box needs to be big enough for "magazines and DVDs". Its more acceptable to be a perv I suspect than a druggie.

So, even though I would need to give ID, I'm thinking of using a free voice to email service as my phone number, and get a mailbox. I will actually put the orders in derivatives of close, but not quite right, of my name (which frequently gets mangled and mispelled when I do phone orders).

Think this would be enough protection for my overly paranoid wife (which is also why she doesn't smoke pot, she worries too much).

Still haven't figured the best way to grow though, but until I get beans that is a second step. I still think eventually I can convince her a small grow cab with odor control is safe and no big deal. But anyone have ideas on ways to grow outside the house that are pretty safe? There are lots of little shrubby juniper type trees in Texas, and was thinking of a short strain like a lowryder in a pot in the branches of one of these trees (not on my property but close by), might be one way.

Fundamentally, how can I buy and grow and make sure my wife would never get sucked into any legal problems?

If you grow in your home, it is going to be hard for her to deny knowledge. If you have a garage or workshop and you do a cabinet grow or something, maybe. But you never know what some dickhead cop will do. Or the state can pick up the charges. You just never know

I just dont see how a personal grower would get busted if they keep their nose clean and follow the rules of growing.

Get an apartment but thats probably not cost effective.....

It seems you have thought this out. One problem I see is drawing attention to yourself by telling the postal workers to never call you at home. Just don't say anything. You don't have to list a phone number anyways. Just get the box and order a few magazines and then get your seeds. Remember if they were to find them and question you, just simply deny any knowlege.

It would be better if you could find someone to have them sent to but if you can't I guess thats your only option. If you were growing inside I would tell you to not have them sent to a PO box either but hopefully it works out for you.
