Question about google earth

Just wondering when you see a picture from google earth is it a still photo that was taken some time ago or is it a real time image from a satellite?
Just wondering because if it's a photo taken a few years ago and I start an outdoor site now then it wont show up, however if it's real time then the site will show up, and maybe even a picture of me digging away!

the pic on google earth of my place has not been updated for about 6 years now. i would not worry about getting caught digging on a satellite photo

LOL this might be google but the POLICE is another story lol...Also as far as their updates that may be random aswell... I looked at places that have changed since I have looked so I'm not sure what the criteria is but I do know they change things... peace out Headband 707:tiphat:

Some of the images have not been updated from the original source , most UK coverage is based on arial photography from the Ordinance Survey database.

The view of my house can be dated to a certain day in 1981 thanks to the combination of cars and grounds work being done , rural areas dont seem to get upgraded round here.

like headband said that's what we get to see,,

id be surprised if some "people" dont have access to a bang up to date version,,

they easily have enough time, money and satellites,, oh and a good reason,,

information is one of the commodities/resources of the new age,, like fresh water,,

Damn straight "they" do! My local podunk county tax office pays for an exclusive service from a private company (has their own sattelite) to give updated photos of the whole county QUARTERLY. Why? They want to be able to access property improvements without sending an appraisor out. If I build a new barn on my rural property (don't need permits) they want to be able to raise my property taxes on the improvements. There is no telling who is looking at that county resource besides tax assessors. Be careful.

i know the cops have access to all kinds of things they shouldn't but i really really really doubt they get much access to real time satellite images .......... unless they are looking for pablo escobar. i think you would have to be VERY high on the most wanted list to get any LEO attention from space.

cops on the ground and general stupid shit is what usually causes growers problems. most of the huge weed busts seem to start out with a hunter or a hiker and as we all know they seem to miss enough crop to keep us all smoking........... and we can thank the stoner gods for that

I know organisations like the National Parks rangers and the water catchment authority have their own satellites.
They have caused me enough grief over the years.
I remember once I had about 200 seedlings in trays in the forest and once when I went to water them there was a white stake stuck in the ground about 15 metres away.
I pulled it up but the next time I went to water them there were three people about 30 metres from the seedlings. They were putting different coloured plastic panels next to plants for several seconds.
I asked them what they were doing and they said they were from the university and were doing a study on plants regeneration after fires. The plants were being photographed and monitored by a satellite.
Needless to say I moved my seedlings in a hurry!
I was using a trail bike for a while to get to my outdoor grows and it got so that within 10 minutes of getting into the forest the helicopter would come.
They were obviously monitoring that area of the forest for me.
When I heard it coming I used to ride the bike into a clump of bushes and cover it with a green nylon army tent fly and branches and hide till they went.
The last time I remember I did that and they flew and hovered around for a while and then flew off; but I decided to wait and sure enough after about several minutes they came back flying low and fast; they obviously wanted me to think they had gone so I would come out of cover.
Yep, it got pretty hot there towards the end.

No authority owns a remote senseing satellite , they all purchase the data from the operateing company , raw or processed at different resolutions for different purposes.

Still much cheaper and better images from aircraft , and a true stereo option.

The price changes affects QuickBird Basic Imagery and Standard Imagery products. The price for panchromatic imagery products was reduced from $30 to $22.50 per square kilometer. Additional price changes include multispectral products at $25 per square kilometer (reduced from $30), the data-bundle containing both panchromatic and multispectral imagery at $30 (reduced from $45), and pan-sharpened products also at $30 (reduced from $37.50).

This is the highest resolution available , people assume sat images when the vast magority came from aircraft.

I just checked some directions and said, eh what the hell lets see what street view looks like at my place. They took new pix Nov of 2011, before that I have no idea.

straight creepy how detailed of surveillance you can have without even setting foot outside your house.

you KNOW there's some satellite out there, thermal included, thats recording from above 24/7

the fire dept didnt think i had a road till they showed up in person.. the sat imagery in my area is horribly out of date even for government access.

if they want to see you they can, plain and simple. whether they will spend the money to get that info is another thing

flashearth.com is cool

seems like all the online sattelite imagary got changed over the summer, places that were more up to recent date seem a bit older now. I wonder if this is from complaints or lawsuits? but earlier this year lots of norcal was 2011 now its all 2009 :dunno:

^^^^^^ i am not saying they can't or don't have and use all kinds of cool shit that we pay for against us.

on my level of outdoor grow i don't sweat satellites ............i kind of thought the OP was closer to my level of grow than the one in mexico. how many acres was that?

they are already using our phones against us so i leave mine at home when i go "digging". thinking about my phone i can do, thinking too much about the man in the sky watching me is to much for my warped little mind. i figure if they are ACTIVELY watching me with a satellite, i am fucked no matter what i do ........ so i won't bother worrying about it.

CCTV systems are a more realistic threat , UK is full of them and getting worse.

The modern cameras now have high definition and powerfull zoom features along with night vision , thermal target tracking is common , plate recognition is already available and facial image tracking is going to become normal practice.

Local councils here have been hideing cameras in laybys and beauty spots to catch illegal tippers with good results , but i feel like im being watched as a criminal outside my own house.

In BC they use thermal imaging which a grow house will light up the skies which is why lots of ppl will turn them on in the day . Then you got the hydro companies calling the cops.. It's so much fun when you go over 4 -1000 watts,,,lol headband 707:tiphat:
