Helloooooo!!!

Is adding the recommended dosage of PoM (1 tablespoon per gallon of soil) enough food for an average flowering period?

No damn given.

I always recommend that you use the directions on the label of any store bought product as a starting point.

You may want to look around at their other product line - Happy Frog (not their soil).

For whatever reason, FoxFarm has taken their PoM product line, renamed some (maybe all?) of those products to a new line called 'Happy Frog' which should be good and confusing for customers, i.e. having one of your soils named Happy Frog and now have 20+ fertilizers with the same name but will be different mixtures just like PoM - whew!

The new products are basically the same ingredients but beneficial fungai and bacteria have been added as well as humic acid.

I've used their 'Happy Frog All-Purpose 5-5-5' and mixed it according to their directions and used my soil mix (basically LC's mix with a couple of slight modification) and I was very, very pleased.

Then again I used my own earthworm castings in my soil mixes and my worms are very well fed! LOL

Regardless - you've got a good product there and I have found their fertilizer mixes to be very fine products.

If you have Down-To-Earth products available you may want to look into their 'Bio-Fish 7-7-2' product as well for comparison. It's only available on the West Coast I believe.

Cheers!

i have recently noticed that pom looks to be one of the better organic dry mixes. i say that because they are made with a wide array of different meals, guanos, and benneficials. and to me its better giving abunch of food instead of 1 type of food

About the FF, they haven't relabeled their PoM, they just created happy frog. Goto their website: www.foxfarmfertilizers.com

If you're trying to use this as a stand alone fert, then I would probably up it to about 3 tbspoons per gallon.

I did but thanks for the suggestion.

Here is the link to Peace of Mind All Purpose Organic Fertilizer (5-5-5) and here's the description: It’s pH-balanced with premium organic ingredients like feather meal, fish meal, bat guano, and humic acid, a naturally occurring organic material that is formed when organic matter decomposes. Humic acid helps with seed germination and may increase the uptake of important micronutrients.

So what exactly was I supposed to see by following your suggestion by going to FoxFarmFertilizers.com again?

Thanks for sharing your insight on the difference between these 2 products from their organization.

If you'd like I can post links to other PoM products which contain the very same ingredients and the same percentages as the 'new product line' called Happy Frog but I gathered from your post you've already done that, right?

Cheers!

POM is great stuff..

Bone Meal
Blood Meal
Feather Meal
Fish Meal
Fish Bone Meal
Hydrolyzed Fish
Alfalfa Meal
Kelp Meal
Bat Guano
Gypsum
Rock Phosphate
Sulfate of Potash Magnesia
Humic Acid (derived from Leonardite)
Mycorrhizae Fungi X 15
Bacterial Fungi X5

The Starter blend has ALOT higher amounts of "benificials" than the other blends & the box says add 2TBS per gal unlike the others that say to add 1TBS per gal.

SensimillaWorlf - Are you feeding them anything else?

using promix/EWC/big n chunky at 50/30/20, plus the POM at 2tbs, lime at 1.5 tbs, and kelp meal at 1tbp per gallon. lightly feed with bio bizz, only use LK other than that. gonna start bubbling EWC/molasses teas. I dont see anything going wrong with this combo unless something drastic and unfortunate happens.

sorrry, no pics because my grow doesn't actually exist ;)

Ego, ego, ego :nono:

Anyways, they haven't turned their PoM products into Happy Frog. Its simply a marketing ploy to diversify their product line and appeal to different demographics. Its ok, I don't expect weed growers to understand business/marketing... :bashhead:

Since you're obviously working on your GED there at Hog Trough High School, perhaps you might want to run this term by your graduate advisor - you ready?

The term is re-branding - take a deep controlled breath and take it in. Either write it down or perhaps you can text-message the term to the advisor and go from there.

Once you've digested that term you might want to return to FoxFarmFertilizer.com and continue to compare the PoM product line with the Happy Frog product line and what you will see is that for each & every PoM formulation there is an exact version of that formula carrying the Happy Frog brand.

You still keeping up? I hope so.

Then go back to your faculty advisor and ask him/her/whatever what another term means - okay?

And that terms is - 'reducing on-hand inventory'

This is often done by companies when they've decided that one brand or image or whatever term they use at your Saturday morning classes, the 'reduce the on-hand inventory' to preclude losses. Losing money means that the owners or shareholders will be unhappy and there will be no Christmas bonuses this year.

And when the current PoM inventory has been depleted or repackaged in the case of the large packs they sell, then the PoM line will be discontinued.

You can check with your local 'grow store' and ask them to show you the new order guides from FoxFarm Fertilizers and then ask them to see the letter from that organization to their retailers & distributors explaining the reason for the shift from PoM to Happy Frog.

Now this next concept will probably exceed even your advisor's knowledge bank, but the reason that they're moving to the Happy Frog is that the package material is one that water cannot penetrate an thereby damaging the product.

PoM on the other hand, is packaged in a cardboard box. Cardboard, in case you weren't aware, is made from paper and related forest by-products. When it gets wet it's a mess actually. Cardboard, unlike the material used in the Happy Frog line of products, does allow water to affect the contents of the package by letting the water seep in!

Kewl, eh?

Don't believe me? Head over to the local Pigly-Wigly and pick-up a box of Fruit Loops or whatever your favorite cereal happens to be, i.e. the brand really doesn't matter for this exercise. Seriously.

Now when you get home, go change into something comfortable and appropriate. Like a little hat with the propeller on top so that you can spin it around while you conduct this test, perhaps a t-shirt with "Budz Rulz" hand-written with a Magic-Marker by yourself perhaps, some cut-offs hanging down around your knees and a pair of flip-flops and your good to go!

Take the box of cereal and lay it on the lawn, sidewalk, hold it with one hand - it doesn't matter. Begin spraying the cardboard for a couple of hours, stopping long enough to give the propeller a spin or two, and then put the box of cereal in the kitchen sink, a shower or bathtub - you get the idea.

Tomorrow morning try pouring out a bowl of Fruit Loops and see how well you like them.

There are other reasons that FoxFarm Fertilizer went to new, more modern packaging but those concepts are probably left for another day and discussion.

Thanks for your input. It was enlightening to say the least.

Just wanted to pop in and mention real quick that whatever ya do DO NOT use this stuff as a topdress. That is unless you like un-penetratable mats on the top layer of your container. Great if you mix it in with the soil though.

POM stuff introduces/nourishes soil biology, and their exudates are what cause that crusting of the top layer of soil when topdressing. Worm castings will do the same thing. It's that glue-like property of the exudates that creates soil aggregates- a very good thing.

If you topdress with bio active materials of any kind, just cultivate lightly before watering and you'll be good to go.

can you use peace of mind in making teas? If so, what's a good rate?

Ya, you could use them as teas, but some of the ingredients probably wont dissolve into the water or get broken down. The guanos, blood meal and various others would dissolve. I guess the question is, what are you attempting to accomplish with your tea? All around? Or are you trying to get a bloom booster?

Maybe you should look inside the box. The guano is in a plastic sack in this box of FF PoM. Moisture not likely to hurt it.

Asshole. You don't know everything.

Nah Na nah nah nah!!!
