Been watching on TV -- HolyShit! Described here as "Biblical" in proportion, it looks to be no exageration in this case.

Stay safe, our prayers are with you and watch out, especially after the water goes down . . .

Following floods, hurricanes and other natural disasters here in the US, more people are typically injured or killed afterward during the clean-up phase -- what with all the sharp impliments and flying chainsaws used, the many ill thought through attempts at moving large, heavy, displaced objects and the widespread contact by under-qualified individuals with a damaged, unstable electrical grid -- and all the mayhem that combination can produce.

Not that you'd do any of this, of course . . ..,.

High,
the biggest proublem so far is infection, the smallest kinck or cut is geting infected to the stage that people are going into hispital from blood poisening !

spare a thaught for the 1000 odd people to hvae passed in the floods in Brazil...

Biblical, is not an overstatment...

Kind Regards, FT...

For those who see flooded houses only:

Think Katrina (the hurricane that devastated New Orleans) it is not "only" wet houses...but everything else that comes with it such as mold, rotten furniture, flooded underground electricity lines, non working sewers, oil & fuel being pushed out of underground tanks etc.

Basically set back to stone age: Zero infrastructure.

You don't have to eat and only contaminated water to drink.

It is a clusterf*ck of a mess.

Aren't they having the Aussie Open tennis tourney right now too? Seems like they should have postponed or even cancelled this year's event considering what is going on there in that country. Like how can you concentrate on holding a tennis match and there's people literally dying in the streets from a flood? Messed up if you ask me. How's the coverage of that going on down there?

Best wishes from the great republic of California. First you guys have like 10 years of drought and now this. I really feel for you all out there and hope that you all get though this without too much lose.

Thanks FT, this thread came about before I found out about the Brazillian floods. Biblical alright. The tragedies old mother nature is delivering seems to be increasing at an alarming rate. Or maybe I'm just getting old!

Come to think of it FT, thats just why the clean up is going so well is that AUSSIES put their own down when they see a brother suffering more.

Roachclip - Thanks mate, actually the whole of the east coast from top to bottom now.
Noobian - There are calls for many things government funded to be cancelled for example the anual fireworks displays in australian capital cities for australia day on the 26th. Hopefully us Aussies will pull together and do proud.
Grendalkhan - After the drought, the rain. After the rain, the fruit.

Well, most of us wouldn't, except maybe for our ex-primeminister(why do we still remember him?). He managed to be one of the first to be treated with an infected foot sustained in the flood!
Seriously though, it's going to be a long haul for most . Family and friends have been affected, though not as bad as some.

Yeah mate, not a heap of fun. None at all actually. The Aussie spirit is pulling through though.
