Pythium Wilt? Mold?

H

Came across a major problem yesterday. I have a Chemdawg that is a reveg, and while it never fully flowered, it got stunted and when it did start growing new growth, it was very tight together. Now it has 3 main branchs that stretch to the top, however one branch, while still strong, all leaves are wilted on it along with the tip falling over. Its only on this branch.
Upon further investigation, I found where this branch meets the main stem, there is about an inch of thick white, what appears to be mold. I did a search and the closest match I could find mentioned "pythium wilt", although I'm not sure if this is my problem.
So far..most of the foliage around the area has been removed to allow more airflow...and it has been sprayed with neem oil both yesterday and today.
I unfortunately don't have any pics at the moment, but I'll attempt to get some tomorrow.
Thanks for any help.

Alright...got some pics...

Here you can see the wilted leaves as well as the tip of the stem which is falling over, yet the branch itself is still strong.

The mold/damage/whatever it is

Anybody know what this is/what the problem is? Solutions? Advice? Cut it off?

Hi looks like mold or fungus of some kind for certain.

downy mildew, mold, or pythium with another.

Do you have any POTTASIUM BICARBONATE? [GREENCURE]

OR any sulphur?

or fungicide of any kind?

get that branch off , it may be too late with it spreading, but cut off branch and take a tissue and wipe off mold you can see, maybe wipe it with H202 diluted after removing as much of the rot as you can...

I don't have any of those, the only spray I have right now is Neem oil. I do have a local nursery that carries quite an array of products, and if any of those products would be beneficial...then I will look into them.
However, you think it would be best just to chop it off (which makes sense)? When I saw it yesterday, it didn't seem to have gotten any worse, but at the same time not any better and Neem doesn't seem to be doing anything.

HELLO;

Yes if you can just cutting it off it may be best.

It would be better than it spreading, which it can do easily.

If you are starting to have this problem it may be too humid where you are or the plants are getting and staying too wet too long.

If you continue to see this problem , which may be likely if humidity and wet conditions continue, it may be good to use some GREENCURE [Potassium Bicarbonate] as a prophylactic[preventative] or another fungicide.

Do a search here in infirmary and there is alot of info on it.

Thanks for the help. I'll go ahead and cut the branch, but keep a close on the plant.

I think what may have caused it, was over the weekend we had a pretty intense Thunder/lightning storm here. That plant where the mold/fungis is, has really tight compact growth due to re-veg...I think the rain is to blame. Thats the only night of rainfall we've had all season, otherwise its been mostly sunny (maybe some overcast in the morning, we're around 5 miles from the coast).

It's Schlerotina, stem fungus, Cut off quick, once it rings the stem, it will kill the plant. If you want to use chemicals, try flourazole, or triazole fungicides. Get em in garden centres for roses. Look for active ingredients. Mix as recommended, apply with cotton bud on cut stem, or white pussy patches, no need to spray the whole plant.. Its to do with wet conditions, see if there are any leaves you can take off to improve airflow.
cheers.

I think hydrogen peroxide would also work by drying that shit. You have to cut infected branch clean off though, I dont think the leaves further up will recover..

Thanks for the help guys. My dad went ahead and cut the branch off. I believe he cleaned the area with hydrogen peroxide as well. We'll both be keeping a close eye on it for a while. Hopefully it didn't and won't spread to any other part/s of the plant.
