Pyrethrin based foggers

I've seen that the Doktor Doom fogger is recommended for mites. I can't find it locally, but the home depot/lowes here do carry a bunch of Pyrethrin based foggers.

Is the Doktor Doom fogger actually Pyrethrin? or is it a derivative?

Are these other foggers safe to use in flower?

How do you tell if its a Pyrethrin or Pyrethroid?

Hey, I looked up the MSDS on that product and it lists the contents as 'pyrethrins'.
Also, it contains the activator PBO, whcih is really common to see in Pyr type products.
Personally, I would not use a PBO-containing product within 3 weeks of harvest, or 4 if you are under CFLs (intense light breaks down these types of pesticide mixes into harmless components).

If you can find a pure pyrethrin one, cool... check the selection at Home Depot and read the labels to see what ELSE is in there. I've even used the pyr/PBO Raid bombs in my veg area to control thrips- use them twice, 4 days apart. Re-entry of the space is safe after about 4 hours but I'm paranoid and give it 8 lol.

Out of the slime, finally.

3 bombs total. Set one off every 3rd or 4th day and kiss mites good bye. Don't use mid or late flower unless u can find a pure pyrethin one for the reason stated by previous poster.

Ive been wondering as well about the use of Bug Bombs near harvest, an being able to get em at lowes or home depot would be great!..

Having a mite infestation during tha last weeks of bloom takes ALL the fun out of growing MJ......:biglaugh:

I don't trust them late in flower. If it isn't in your living space, you can hang a no-pest strip. You can also do things the chem-free way, and add air movement and drop temps to control the little bastards. They reproduce much slower in cooler temps, and they HATE wind.

You're not going to achieve that in a room with living plants. When your harvest is down, then do a VERY thorough bombing of the space, clean your gear, vacuum, the whole deal. This is a very important benefit of doing single crops rather than a perpetual grow- one cannot say enough about the importance of having time when your room is EMPTY of plants and you can wage unrestricted chemical warfare on the Evil Empire.

What if one was using a three car garage, with soo much equipment that sterilization would be close to impossible...(i.e. How would I steriize the lawnmower, box of nuts and bolts, etc...)...I figure the eggs could be anywhere and everywhere.....so..,.

What can be done?...Without plants, how cold for how long to kill the eggs for sure?...

Ive used typical bug bombs from my local hydro shop, to no avail...The borg is every where, and I dont know what to do, seeing as bleaching everything down is pretty much out of the question....

Have I lost my grow room?

I'm not sure how cold and for how long you would have to hold the temp to kill the eggs... I would venture to predict it would have to be below freezing, at least.

In a garage, I'd go with no-pest strips (dichlorvos), after a good bombing, at least a couple of them, hung fairly near the plants. I assume you are exhausting to OUTDOORS, right? If you exhaust to within the home, skip 'em and look into a systemic miticide, such as Avid, applied to your plants during veg and again at week 2- NO LATER- of flower. You should allow it some time to break down before harvest- it is at active levels within the plant as a miticide for about 21 days.

-Will these sprays(avid, floromite) have any effect on the eggs?.....

-Are the foggers any different than the "bug bombs" ?....

-Are there any foggers that kills eggs?

-Why is it bad to vent indoors when using strips?

-How do yall feel about SM-90?...

The systemic insecticides poison insects feeding on plant tissues that have been treated with them. The PLANT becomes toxic to bugs.

Manual foggers require you to stand there and press the spray can. Automatic release foggers and bug bombs are synonymous.

-Are there any foggers that kills eggs?
Yes. A quality fogger will kill eggs. You have to bomb at least twice though to also kill any life stages that are protected, such as pupating thrips (in soil) or thrip eggs (in meristematic tissue of plant).

-Why is it bad to vent indoors when using strips?
Dichlorvos is a neurotoxin and was developed for use in chemical warfare. Organophosphates in general are endocrine disruptors. Don't take chances with your health.

I don't know jack shit about it.

Good luck with the project!
