Putting plastic bags in ground for outdoor grow

dec

I've seen some people digging a hole and then putting a plastic bag in the hole and fill it with soil. Why do they do that and why is it supposed to be better?

thanks!

maybe there was some special purpose for them doing that ... but such a thing is a no no when growing cannabis.

I have seen this in very dry areas (guerrela growing) when they want to keep the rainwater from disappearing into the deeper levels of the ground.

I've put pots(1gal/4L) into the ground so I could pick up the pots and move them when noncool eyes were coming over to visit.

Like bombaycat said, it makes a water trap for drier area's, and places that you can't visit that often. It works for both, but you have to make sure that it doesn't trap so much water that your plants get over watered(the same concept as hempy buckets). You could either line the first couple inches with the bag, or just use the whole bag, and put slits in it a couple inches up. The only other benefit that I could think of is that it would "direct" where the fertilizer ended up going, but not having the roots able to grow as big as they wanted would negate any benefits from that.
