Purple Haze expectations

Just wondering what kind of average height i may be looking at with this strain. i will be growing them organic with no chem nutes in 5 gallon geo pots under 400 watt HPS lights per 3 sq ft.

just wondering if i can give them a few weeks of veg before flipping them over maybe 15 to 20 inches before i flower them, but i only have 6 feet of height so perhaps i should just run them 12/12 from seed?

any tips would be great, also i ordered some seeds from a vendor, i ordered PPHxPanama and i got the original package that said only Purple Haze so i'm assuming i got pure purple haze instead of the PPHXPan cross?

Thanks

your pots are big enough but not to big for your space if they get a bit tall top them, more veg is better at least till they alternate branching. good luck

I would honestly veg them til full maturity then take cuts and flower out small clones. I've never grown PH but I have grown many other hazes and a haze grown to 20 inches can really over grow the entire space. With only 400w you'd be better off to have smaller plants and more of them.

12/12 from seed is ok but it will tack on a few more weeks of veg before flowering kicks in as the plant still wants to reach maturity.

thanks for the replies, both seem like decent plans. i know they can get big which is why i asked but also it's mainly a seed run so maturity is key this time around so maybe the clone route would be a good choice.

i know with organics they will be about 25% smaller i have found but i really like the quality of smoke from it.

As you get better at growing you will see no difference with organics and yields{the only growth difference meaning more, i have seen is in some water setups not all}. I have pulled over 2 lbs a light with only organics and teas. proper veg time pot size light strength. bamo

thats some serious numbers there amigo.

yeah that's all i use as well, teas, ACt's and good home made organic soil, but i still grow less with this verses aeroponics and nutes, never really got into chem soil grows but did read a few good side by side grows where the nutes pulled in 25% or so more volume but always they said the organics produced a smoother smoke.

that's in the summer time with 85f-90f temps haze grows well in these conditions{super secret tip!}. lots of light! lots of food. If you grow chemmy or organic should not matter too much i have seen chemmy growers that flush uber well and product is nice a clean ash. Me with organics it is a timing thing versus amount of nutrients in the medium. Varies as per strain and size etc, organics is life style choice right. but a nice clean ash is what i am after on a finished plant. Experiment the most important things i have learned over the last 10 years of serious growing is learn from your mistakes do not be afraid.

sativas like it hot eh, makes sense since they are an equatorial strain. would keeping them at 80-85 or so be beneficial?

most of my experience is in indica's and aeroponics\hydroponics but for the last year i have gone all organic since it's a lot less work in the grow room, i have found. i normally run my grows at 75 degrees but hell if raising the temps a bit would be beneficial i would give it a try, save some money that's for certain.

i appreciate the help man as the closest iv'e been to a sativa was 35 years ago smoking a J as a teenager.

thinkin 80f-90f is a good range for sativas. some like heat more so then others but that bud structure in the haze i have gets denser in cooler temps.Higher temps more medusa head bud structure but still thick[not whispleweefluffers] and loads of it. Careful in the higher temps if you have bugs or molds they explode! Sativas have the high and the legs much more so then the kushs i have try/d do not get me wrong they all have a place but sativa for my brain is the mainstay.... peace from fog mountain congolese haze mixers puff puff pass////

From what I've seen reading through all the Purple Haze grows on this forum it's a strain that can get very lanky with extreme stretch in flower. I think I saw somebody mention 8X stretch on their PH or PH x Thia so be ready for it. I used to just let all my strains grow naturally the first time I plant them to see what kind of structure they have and what training techniques if any are required but I've learned from having a couple of plants crash into the ceiling that when it comes to these pure sativas it's best to start doing things about their height long before it becomes a problem. It's amazing how quickly 8ft of vertical space becomes too little.

Hi Ranger, sorry for the delay in the reply, i missed your thread.

We have talked several times about how to grow this extreme tropical sativas indoors from seed in the oldtimer's haze and other haze threads here at ace seeds room.

If you want to flower them from seed then start the hazes in small pots, prune several times in early stages and don't veg for too long if you have height restrictions. They are very slow to start flowering (especially from seed) so keep them in small pots till they finish their stretching (first 2 months of flowering), then repot to final pot for the rest of flowering. To flower clones from older mothers is an easier way to control the height and reduce flowering time.

Let us know if you have any doubt during the grow. Good luck!

dubi thanks for getting back to me. i have three girls in about their 4th week of flowering, one i topped early and two are un-pruned. one was 18 inches at flower and now it's 4 feet tall with beautiful tight structure and already nice size to the "many" buds.

i wish i had the ability to have a clone mother because this lady would be it. also working on a cross of your Mazar and your purple haze with this run.
