What's new

purple and green haze

first off im sure many have noticed theres a bit of debate regarding the origins of haze etc. but its all a bit 30 years in the past if you ask me. today i'd only care how haze "A", stands up the haze "B", (or haze C, D,or E...) when i smoke it, not much else matters.

but that aside this post is to ask dubi a few questions.

i know its kinda a big ask, but, i'll just add there is a but..

dubi, what would you give as strain descriptions for the pure green haze and pure purple haze you offer? i mean ive read the old timer haze description, but thats a hybrid between the two, obviously they are not exactly the same so what would you put down as the main defining features between the two?

also how do they each compare originally "as is" compared to in a hybrid? ie green haze generally brings this to which it is crossed with, purple haze...

separating the two, the purple haze draws my attention the most, only from reading it appears the proper purple colors seems recessive in its crosses? how about the high and taste?

also dubi what original strain do you put behind the purple in the haze line?

cheers

CF,

I'm sure dubi will chime in shortly. Originally, the green haze line grew a little bit more compact than the purple haze line. I think dubi and Ace have refined the green haze line further into a taller/longer flowering group and a shorter earlier flowering (by several weeks) group. The green haze line is citrus, fruit and woody. I believe purple haze has some liquor notes in it as well. I've got stock from both green haze lines as well as the purple haze. I'm going to be starting some Purple Haze x Thai from different Mom's soon, so it may be a little while before I get back to the pure hazes. What I can say is the green Old timer Haze I grew a bit back is my favorite go to smoke (vape). I absolutely love the clean clear effects...I hope you find what you are looking for!

Hello Cannabis Fecund,

It's real good question. Oldtimer's Haze is an original untouched haze population. Haze was a cross of different old tropical sativas, my guess is that one highland purple colombian/panama sativa was used in the cross, and is the one who gives the colors to the haze hybrid.

Haze was not stabilized so you can find different expressions in the population. Depending on the parental influence, some will be greener other purple/redish, or a mix of both.

There are different haze populations and i just can talk from first hand experience about Oldtimer's Haze. After several years and generations working with this haze population, we have inbred and isolated the green and purple pheno.

Indeed, we are offering some very nice haze offerings this season: Oldtimer's haze (mix of green, purple and purple/green haze phenos), green haze (mostly south indian/thai) and finally the purple haze (mostly highland purple colombian genetics). All very fresh stock.

Green haze finishes completly green even almost under freezing temps. The aromas are more fruity (tropical matured fruit) and floral. They are usully more bushy, there's even a smaller and faster flowering (probably more mexican influenced) green pheno.

Purple Haze has a quite different bouquet, darker, black liqour, blackberry .... They usually mature taller with impressive purple flowers and red colors in the leaf.

The incense aromas can be found in both lines, depending on the plant, not the color. Potency and flowering time are similar in both phenos.

Our new website will be available in a few day but the english version will take a bit more. Youll find all the info there. Hope it helps.

CF,

I would like dubi to chime in on any differences between Purple Haze x Thai F3 and the limited edition Purple Haze.

Thanks Cannabis Fecund :)

High UHN, pure Purple Haze being more inbred is obviously less vigorous, less productive, less pest resistant, and less powerfull and takes a few days more to finish than Purple Haze Thai.

The purple haze thai breeding was to add all this vigour, potency, pest resistance... without lose the extreme purple haze colors, aromas and effect. And the pure tropical experience..

I think we will offer purple haze x indica hybrids in the future but i think is important what we have been doing with the tropical sativas past 3-4 years.

Pics?

Been looking for a solid haze for my garden, nothing is locally available since the medicinal community / environment wont take the time to properly cultivate a true haze.

Don't you offer this already in the fem seeds of the green and purple haze x PCK?

Would love to hear more about the parents used in those and what to expect as I have a few packs of the purple haze x PCK ones myself. :tiphat: Much love to Ace :joint:

Hello SOFT420,

Purple Haze x Chitral fem and Green Haze x Chitral fem were limited editions released around 2009.

Both are very interesting 50/50 sativa/indica hybrids: Purple Haze 23 (best purple haze mum, colorful and incensey) x Purple Pakistan Chitral Kush (selected mum around 2004) and Green Haze 19 (best green haze mum for taste and high) x same Pakistan Chitral Kush mum.

Im glad to hear you have a few packs of the hybrid there, would recommend you to start them in the next months cos the stock is around 3 years old. Best wishes!
