Thanks for the advice Hibernia, I'd have been none the wiser without your help, much appreciated.
Hiya Ras. I'm going to be working with theis Afghan while for a while, beginning with pollinating all four females with the 1 male I chose. I will then look for other males of this strain (I can get some more seeds i think and a friend has some I gave him, so he might find some nice males too) and will reproduce the genes as well as i can. the taste is a nice soft hashy one with a coffee edge, nice and reminds me a bit of Deep Chunk. I would love a nice DC male to pollinate this Purple Afghan lady.
Hiya hazy. I'll bring this to Howard Marks with me, then you can tell me if it really is yummy, if you try it and like it, that's good enough for me, you picky pot snobby bugger, you! lol
sorry to see the fungus issue mate.... got me worried too now as im having major humidity issues at lights off....cant help the outside humidity being 90+ percent..... I think im gonna have to ring and see if the bank will give me a loan so i can get a dehumidi......
nice buds though mate...... Yum
I looked and the cheapest dehidifiers are about 80 quid, should be fine for a room. I might just spend a tenner on a plastic box full of silica gel type dehumidifier as I only have a wardrobe.
Thanks for the kind words raco and esbe, when you two guys have good things to say about one of my plants it makes me very happy as you are two growers I have mucho respect for.
Lovely DC XYZ, I would love to cross this Purple Afghan pheno to a male DC, the Afghan doesn't have the resin of the DC, the two would be a stellar cross of Afghan genes I think.
I'm hoping to move to a new house in the middle of nowhere in a few months and then I'll be able to build a proper growroom, I'll have to get hazy to come and help me put it all together and make sure i have all the bits of techno and all the essential gizmos, I'm think a pair of 16-pot Wilmas running coco with drippers under a pair of 600s, full climate control with humditiy comtrol, air-con, the works.
I weighed the dried buds today, that big one is 14 grams, the whole plant yielded a very nice 32 grams, to get over an ounce off a plant under a 250 is a big improvement over my prior yields. I am really liking the bigger yield of coco and the ease of growth and taste/potency of the plants has all increased, I'm a very happy man right now.
Im not a indica fan but they are some nice looking plants i havent read right threw this post will tho if you havent yet added a smoke report id love to read one.
#1 - The runt, produced really nice, resinous nuggets with good falvour, but tiny yield of only 9g, may have been the same pheno as #3, but just a runt. Green with only the slightest pink hues in lower buds.
#3 - This is the green/pink one, same yield (32g) as the #4. This one has the best taste and potency, the finished buds are pretty resinous and side by side with some Cheese are very similar. I'd describe it as a caramelly, chocolately hashish taste, sweet and delicious. I actually think this one has the best flavour of all the ladies from this harvest, even better than the Cheese. Kicking myself I haven't got a clone of this one, a keeper for sure. But I do have seeds from her.
#4 - The big, very dark purple one, definite keeper for it's yield and colour, and in my book, also for it's taste, which is just like the black hash I remember fondly from my youth, it;s reminiscent of goof gold seal from the early 90s. Potency is good, and it's got a heady, mellow high, you feel the front of your heading turning to ice very quickly, an effect I like a lot, perfect chill-out weed. Very glad I made seeds with her.
#6 - The more magenta coloured purple pheno, this one had more open buds and a distinctly different tone to the other purple, this one is pink/magenta when broken up. Had some single stamen male flowers a couple of days before harvest, but nothing worth worrying about. This one has a taste halfway between the black hashy taste of #4 and the sweet caramel/chocolate of #3. Yielded 28g, I attribute this to the more open, airy buds.
Here's the harvest pics of the #3 pheno, this one is my personal favourite. The lower buds had a lovely pink colour. This one had the most visible resin and is slightly more potent than the purple ones. The effect of all the plants is pretty similar, all being relaxing but high rather than stony and being very smily and mellow.
