I took a small bud off as a sampler, the colouration is intense indeed, no green at all on the calyxes, the leaves are also mostly purple now, maybe they will turn completely purple over the next few days.

Hiya Folks

Yup, first frost came 6-8 weeks early. No frost this morning, so p[ropbably just a sudden cold snap. Seen many plants survive this before, but they go dark purple suddenly. Doc, those Marocs should be very colourful by the end, judging by other grows I've seen of those.

Purple Afghans at 40 days and looking really delicious. Can only imagine how big this cola would have got if the plant was allowed to grow untopped. This pheno is definitely the big yielder of the bunch.

Hi BH ,
nice thread mate . hope they smoke as good as they look .
i m not sure if you have diagnosed the problems the leaves are displaying in the above pix , Leaf Spot Fungus . it s ripping through UK grow rooms this year aided by the wettest summer on record .
just like your pix show it get s worse in late flower as the plant is depleted of nutrients , and the fungus has an easier time attacking the weaker leaves.

best bet is to treat your veg plants with Sythane , systemic fungicide available at most garden centres . being systemic it s not aviseable to use late in flower .
all the best

I don't think it's a fungus, I think it's a combination of PH spotting and burning from the HPS. The Afghans seem to like a lower PH below 5.5, there is no sign of these leaf problems on the OG Kush next to her, which like ec 1.9 and ph 6, but the Cheese has worse leaf browning, so I'm not sure, but they all seem healthy enough, I'm not a perfctionist and as long as they are pretty nice plants, I'm happy, the dialling in can come with later clone runs.

This is my first coco grow so I'm well pleased at how the plants are turning out, this one has been fed at ec 1.8-1.9 ph 5.5-5.9, perhaps 1.7 would have been better as she has slight overfert as you can see in the burnt tips and concave leaves, but its very slight overfert and hasn't hurt her at all.

Well, I decided to cut down this Purple Afghan lady at 56 days as I really liked the brain freezing effect of the sample, a lovely high with no couchlock, very meditative. Here she is, just before the chop:

With the fan leaves removed, you can really see how big the buds are, remember this plant was grown under a 250 in an overcrowded space, yet the buds are all very large:

I love the colouration of these buds, they really are a good size and lovely colour:

This side of the bud was facing the light and is more foxtailed and paler:

DSCF0028.jpg

Whereas this side is more magenta and the buds haven't foxtaield as much, it was facing the mylar of the wall:

This pic shows what I mean, the left hand side was facing the lamp:

Here is the bud the other way round:

^^^^These pix could be used in a book to show Leaf Spot Fungus . notice the white flaky marks on the underside , that s the giveaway . they show no signs of pH spotting or light burn . i m not pissing in your cornflakes BH , just trying to help . i v started a thread in the cannabis infirmiry with pix from my own garden and quotes/links to a UK based canna forum where this problem is much more widely known .

might be worth a read of this ..............

Thanks for the advice man, I've never seen or heard of leaf spot fungus before. Is the plant still safe to smoke?

Might be time for me to buy a dehumidifier.

The Cheese is worse, so I'm worried now.

I'm so happy I made the switch to coco, the results speak for themselves in my book, never been able to grow anything in soil with buds of this size and I find handwatering coco a piece of piss to be honest, just gets a little tiring mixing nutes every day.

I'm thinking of setting up my homemade 6-plant wilma-style dripper system for the next flowering run and growing 6 plants that have been vegged into bushes. I have several sativas that are still small, but have been ruthlessly supercropped so they are side branched a lot, being sativas, they will stretch so are just the right size to go into flower and produce 2-foot wide, but foot square bushes with multiple colas. They will be a mix of Tibetan x South African, Blueberry x Zamal/Haze and possibly a Trainwreck or two.

I have been waiting a month for my canna nutes and 50 litre sack of canna coco to arrive, and still not turned up, so demanded a refund and have bought a sack of b'cuzz coco, some B'cuzz nutes, Atazyme and Atami/B'cuzz PK13/14 plus a couple of B'cuzz coco boosters instead, the B'cuzz stuff was much cheaper, half the price in fact, so with the money I saved I bought the two boosters as well. I used the Atami Atazyme and PK14/13 for this grow to supplement the canna nutes and it looks to have worked well. I mixed my canna nutes to 1.6 then added PK13/14 to take it upto 1.8, adding Atazyme every other day, I began addign the Pk after 2 weeks of 12/12. These plants were fed Plagron Algagrow in veg, switichign to canna coco A+B for flower.

hiya BH , sorry to have been the bearer man. it s wide spread and seems to be affecting growers in every medium .

the thing is , it doesn t matter how clean or dry your room is , the spores are in the outside air so your intake is constantly sucking them in . up to now , systemic fungicide like Sythane has been the only product effective at protecting the plants .
it contains a nasty chem so should not be applied late in flower .

not sure if the spores are dangerous if inhaled by smoking . i made sure to remove as much infected foliage as possible before smoking the buds . made bho with what i couldn t smoke!

i m treating plnts in veg/early flower with the fungicide and it s working . giving them their last spray just before the pistils appear ;)

take care

Congratulations BH what a good afghan...

I think would be better work with all phenos doing oppened pollinations with the better male and all the females to see how many different plants you´ll get but it´s only a sugeration!!
