Pure Coco Run Off PPM?

Hey guys,

I'm currently about 5 weeks into a flowering cycle and have noticed that my runoff is starting to creep up toward 1400 ppm even though i handwater every dayph'd water with ~ 1000 ppm. The last 2 days I've fed with and the runoff seems to be dipping down, however, I'm just wondering im gonna get over nuted buds at the end because of this.

The plants seem to be in great health and are showing no signs of burn. Is the buildup of ppm something that is expected? Has anyone else measured there runoff using coco over a flowering cycle?

what up zor. i checked mine before and it was around .6-.8 but i'm not too sure how to interpet the readings. this run i'm reusing coco and i will check the runoff tonight cuz i've noticed some salt buildup on top. have you been flushing with pure water any? thats when i check my runoff, and i wait till its been going for a few minutes. ok i just lookedd @ my meter (truncheon) i always go by e.c but 1400 ppms seems high as hell. start addin a flush every few days and maybe chill with the ppms for a minute, not sure of your strain and nutes but not sure if you want to get much higher on them. i'm still a newb so i'm sure somebody will post on here and give some better advice, where ya''ll @?

A safe bet is to flush your medium if the run off is 15% higher than the feed solution. So if your starting solution is 1000 ppm than I would flush if the runoff was 1150 ppm or higher! I have found coco requires less nutes than other mediums (rockwool, hydroton, ext) Keep it green!

Good call, SB.

I just lost a page long response, but basically the Canna website says that runoff

measurements from coco are notoriously unreliable.

What conversion is your ppm reading? .5, .64, or .7?

Another trick you could try, since your girls are looking happy, is to dial back your

nutrient to 900 and see what the runoff reads then.

If you decide to do a proper flush, don't forget to pH your water.

Good luck!

Peace, Love & Coco

Thanks for the responses... im using a conversion of .5 (forgot about that).

I actually used to do a weekly plain water feeding, but stopped doing that this run (prolly should've for this reason heh0. Since I'm starting my plain water flush anyway,i'll probably water for these last couple / few weeks as usual.

I'm just curious as to what other people have found when they measure the run off as well. I assumed that by watering with alot of runoff, that the nutes wouldnt build up but i suppose that may not be the case?

Head mentioned that the plants also do not need many micros etc to finish in his thread for a variety of reasons. He leaves out the gh micro at the end before the final flush even. Perhaps this is why the nutes built up at the finish for me. I'm feeding them the same as when they were hungrily feeding with 1000 ppm of flora nova bloom.

Your runn off reads higher because salts have been building up in your medium. Easy solution is to have greater runnoff at each watering. With the right amount of runn off the solution going in should read like the solution comming out. Or close to it. I prefer higher e.c readings. 1.4 -1.6 sounds good to me. Depending on your strain it is almost time to start flush any way.
