I have a spot where I grow that is about 20 minutes away and no one lives there except my ladies. I found out a couple weeks ago that if the power goes out, even for a second, the AC shuts off and will not come back on. That is no bueno obviously. In order to have any peace of mind, I HAD to go check up daily, and that still wouldn't guarantee that the power wouldn't go out right after I left. If you've followed any of my thread, you'll know I'm lazy as fuck and I had a hard time dealing with driving 40 minutes every day just to check on power.
My buddy Weird helped me find the PumpAlarm. It was $200 shipped and service is $30 a year. The $30 is to pay for cellular service they have on the Verizon network so that you can actually receive the messages. With the price of gasoline and my extreme slothful nature, I figured it was a no brainer. In gasoline, it will pay for itself in a run or two. If power goes out, I get a text message. I also get a text when it comes back on. It also came with a float sensor for the sump and a water sensor for the floor. BONUS! I run blumats and most everyone knows they aren't perfect and can 'run away' on us.
Now I can have peace of mind that the power is on, AC is running, and the beds aren't flooding. Not to mention, I can sit on my ass all day now.
