Pump failure->Kinda funny smell->what do I do?

Yesterday, I realized that the air pump feeding one of my plants had failed at some point. I know that it couldn't have been off for more than one day, because I checked, but I don't know exactly how long the roots were without oxygen. When I opened up the growroom last night, with only 15 minutes of the light cycle left, I realized this, fiddled with the pump, and got it running again. The room had a strange smell to it, I can't place it or diagnose it, but it must be from the water being stagnant. Hopefully it's not root rot, but the smell has gone now that the pump has been running for about 12 hours or so. The roots look ok, not brown/dark or soft or anything, just a little more slimy than usual and the water is sort of bubbly. My question to you all is... what do I do? Should I change the nutes out to make sure the water the plant is sitting in is clean? Add some H2O2 to kill any bacteria that might have grown? I'd love to see this plant stay alive, it's only a few weeks from chop chop. Give me some advice, please! Thanks ahead of time

get them out of the water change your entire system and scrub down with hot water and soap and then treat your plants with hydro guard and add some h202 to your water, bacteria growth is going to buildup lack of o2 from your pump dying

When you say change your entire system, are you referring to all of my plants or just the whole system for the one that was affected? I wouldn't think that anything could affect the other plants, since their reservoirs are separate. I'll go ahead and change that bucket out, new nutes and the addition of H2O2... If you stop back by the thread, how much H202 per volume of water do I use? I'll look it up anyway. I don't get home for another 3.5 hrs, so all the work will have to wait until then, sadly. Hopefully all of this will blow over. Thanks for the help so far!

^^ Exactly, sterilize the bucket and start with fresh water/nutes. Start the nutes a little lower than before to let them get a good start on springing back if anything did happen. Better you caught it now than 3-4 days later.

Definitely. Thanks to all for the help and backing up my thoughts. I went ahead and cleaned out my spare bucket with water and H2O2 then mixed up new nutes, regular strength (I'll dilute them a little today just to be sure) then switched the plant (after having cleaned the inside of the bucket lid with H2O2) into the new bucket. I rinsed the roots with a pretty weak H2O2 solution before putting them in the new buckets. Hopefully this will all work. The plant is looking OK, and I'm taking that as a good sign. No more funny smell in the room/bucket, and the roots look/feel fine. The only thing is that it seems like the roots float a little more than they used to, but that may just be me looking for problems and making them up! I feel pretty crap today, so I'll probably stick around the house most of the time and will be able to keep a close eye on the closet. Thanks again
