I have used cloning gels in the past and thought that was needed in order to get roots. So I would use gel and now my friend showed me just water and super thrive and walla !!!! 7 days and roots ...Not all in 7 but definelty 10 days you can see bumps and root tips ..So is the gell like super booster or is just another product that is sold that may not be needed .. What are your thoughts >>>?? After all I have had great succes with the cloning machine and other methods well not much luck .. :tumbleweed:

You don't need cloning gel. I use the water method with good success. I don't clone much. I'm always looking through seeds to find the plants I like then I make seeds with the best of them...I believe cloning gels have hormones that speed up the rooting process. Those with more experience cloning will have some answers for you.

I think gels just basically seal the bottom so water cant escape, that way it will possibly root faster and avoid wilt making a healthier plant. I think krunchbubble said he didn't like using gels because they can cause stem rot, I use dutch master replicator which is really a liquid when compared to olivias or clonex, it has an npk of 0.01-0.008-0.02 but I always soak cubes in water with a couple drops of superthrive. At less than $10 a bottle, you can probably make well over 500 clones, so it easily pays for itself if it speeds up the process by even 1 hour. Mist daily without dome, with dome do nothing but wait.

I have used many methods for cloning. I did over 100,000 last year. I find Pre-charging media to be the best method of overall success. Superthrive and water is good so is colnex but they're costly and un-necissery. Struk cuttings grow fine on plain water if planted into a media with a suitable pH when the atmosphere is saturated.

Healthy plants make the best cuttings.

I use the Hormones in winter and/if mother-plants have suffered shock or have been heavily coppiced for cuttings and when they are getting old.

It is best practice to fertigate the plant/s to be use for cutting material with a good all round fertilizer like a 7-7-7 or 55-55-55 a day before actually taking cuttings to ensure that the stem cells are fully turgid and contain the essential nutriments to promote new healthy growth.

All the gimmicks in the world wont match experience and proper cultural practice.

cloning stuff will help roots form and grow faster. i dont like gels first the containers are too short and i like big clones. second is its a bitch seperating enough so you dont contaminate whole container. i preferr liquid cloning stuff, second would be powders last is gel. i do ok with nuthing too

You can also just clone in dirt and use nothing.
