Proper vent for 400w hps closet?

My closet is about 2.5x1.5x6ft and imma grow with 250w mh for veg and 400w hps for flowering.. Im standing between 2 choices of fans. 225m3/hr or 350mr/hr. Im sleeping in the same room so noise matters. Will the 225 be sufficient? The fan will move air through a carbon filter so i guess some power will be lost there.

250w is good for that size area and a 400w is probably a bit big. You can probably make the 400 work with the bigger fan, but a bigger fan means more noise.

The "Ventilation 101" sticky at the top of this forum will help.

In either case, it's going to make noise. There are are some things you can do (masking, isolating, muffling) to quiet it down some, if not most of it. But, it's still going to make noise. How much noise is noticeable, is dependent on how much you'll tolerate.

I run a 400 watt lumatek at 250 during veg and 400 bloom in a closet. I use a 200-330 CFM 3 speed 6" Can fan Max with a 6" canlite carbon filter. I have plenty of ventilation capacity on low speed. My point is get a fan larger than you need and slow it down for a quiet, efficient grow. Speed controls, thermostats and carbon filters all slow your fan down. A 6" fan should be plenty big enough.

I use a 6" fan with a 6"'x4" reducer screwed to the fan itself on the intake side and a 6" exit tube . the reducer seems to take ALOT of the HOWL out of it and then the speed controller is used to "fine tune" lets you adjust your noise but its still there faintly.
