Hi all,
Long absence... Life, divorces (x2)... Fun stuff!
After buying the latest round of AGLC ditchweed for insane prices... I've realized, I know how to do this. Why the hell am I not growing my 4 allowed plants?
So we begin anew.
Old thread : https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=153992 Old system was excellent ran it for 2-3 years until ex's paranoia mandated it come down.
Since the world is legalized - fuck stealth. There's a nice open spot on my counter next to the sink. (Bachelor life rules!)
What im thinking:
18x18x36" or so cabinet. Its gotta look good on the outside, no duct tape, one power cord. Will have a clear panel (blind maybe for dark hours? Smart tint?) To 'display' my work. Still thinking through that front glass plan. Tint on one side, smart tint on the other?
Look something like:
Still being a geek, it goes with my decor
Thinking a 2020 extrusion frame, FRP sheet panels aluminum and black will go nicely next to the keurig.
Ordered a 300w/50w UFO (yes it'll need more), hydroton, rockwool - oh this is so much easier under legalization...
Going to go similar to my old system RDWC. Shorter tub in chamber, recirculating through a central sump beneath. But I'll use standard hydroponic nutrients this time around.
Started digging in my electronics junk drawer, Teensy LC, nokia 5110 lcd, ps4 joystick, 3 ds18b20's, an 8 relay board and a few mosfets fell out. I'll add a dht11 to my next amazon order - have to look at ph and ec probes and circuits.
I do have some esp microcontrollers floating around - not sure if i want it networked or not yet. That gets way beyond my programming skills quickly.
Programming is not my forte - so ill have to copy and paste my way through this clearly.
Did i mention im still a geek? Saw the price of net pots - hit up thingiverse instead.
Much closer to what i want to pay
A fair bit of 3d printing will find its way into this build - since i have no garage / garage full of tools but 6 or so 3d printers and a few dozen rolls of PETG are lying around... When a hammer is the only tool you have everything looks like a nail
Seeds are ordered. Guess i better sort out a bubbler and get building.
