hey all been awhile since I posted. I am doing a survey on what are the most popular supplies to purchase online. I would like to know what would be best for me to carry in my store, when I open it. I am looking to cater to organic and hydroponic growers.

This is what I am thinking of supplying

125 watt CFL available in 65k and 27k 120 volt med base
150 watt CFL available in 65k and 27k 120 volt med base
Organic Soils and Soiless Mixes
ex. fox farm
ex. sun gro (sunshine mix)
Digital Ballast assembled
electronic ballast assembled
ballast kits
Organic Nutrients
Homeboxes
Hydroponoic systems (homemade)(custom-made)
even down the road supply for local pick up only grow boxes?

what do u all think so far
I need all of your imput on this matter

also all supplies are discounted trying to get lowest prices possible for my customer

ex. 75.00 150 watt CFL
ex. 175 400 watt switchable digital ballast

Honestly, you're not going to sell that many CFLs compared to HIDs. Sure you'll get a few kids and starters playing with cabs, but the money will be in 400's, 600's and 1K's. I assume you are doing this to make money and not just be a good samaritan right?

Behind that, stock 4", 6", 8", & 12" inlines, A decent selection of scrubbers, a couple ozone gens, a full selection of nutes and pest treatments, bottled CO2 setups and burners, mylar & panda and some quality PH & EC/PPM meters.

Organic stuff is typically used by smaller growers for personal stash...the commercial growers (where the money is) mainly use chem nutes. If you focus on only organic supplies (or mostly) you're gonna end up hurting your business' ability to make money...

I would have to agree with what's been said...in all honesty, you can carry as much in the way of supplies as you can handle the inventory for because growing is a VERY diverse hobby with almost EVERY person trying a different route, so to speak. I think for something like this you don't want to focus on just one thing. You need a little of everything, and you'll have to see what sells and what doesn't. Plan for the extra things you may hold onto a long time as inventory. It doesn't mean buy and hold absolutely every last little nut and boly you can think of, but make sure the bases are covered. You don't want to lose a customer because you had everything but the 3/4" bulkhead fittings he was looking for...If they can go to the next online store with one click and find all you had AND the fittings, they will likely place their order there.

I'm not in retail, but I do own a business, and you have to look at this with business glasses on, not with what you like or want, but what the customer wants and needs.

Sandman's got it, cfl's are nice and id probably keep some around because they can work well with clones and such, but the real money has to be in nutes and accessories (meters, pumps, tubing, etc.) and definately stock scrubbers ozones and inline fans (and i suppose daytons because some people still use them) the bigger lights are a must, but if your cutting out the cfl's you could stock small digi ballasts (175 - 250) in both MH and HPS which could cater to those who need them for small grows or for lots of clones. .

regards to nutes, sandman is right again. but dont leave the organic lovers hanging =) but you will make more money supplying the chem nutes for sure, and i have a feeling they make more money from their nutes than their ballast sales. . .

i wish you luck and im sure you can make a wonderful thing from this. . .

lots of Love and Light
