Problem with the trunk of my plant

Hi All,

Active flow hydro, 3 weeks into flower. Had an extended dark time due to power outtage. Came back and the plant drank all of the water in my 2gall res.

Had to fill fast, and had no phdown/up or testers on me at the time (ran out like a doof, new ones didn't arrive yet) so I threw my tap water in, which usually would ph mid 5's after letting it sit for a day.

Day later I am getting obvious ph problems on the leafs (Batteries out on camera, only snapped one picture before it died) and I noticed some white area on my trunk. Looked today and saw what looks like a black deep claw mark and I am almost sure its rot of some kind. How can I fix this? Follow same directions for root rot in the faq?

Thanks all

Wanted to add: I noticed a thinning around the trunk about a week ago. It was wierd, just one little area started to get real slim like it had been wearing a corset that was tied to tight. There was no coloring problems, it was normal in every way minus the fact it was getting skinny in that area She was fine though, quick growth really nice leaves until the problem above, now its turned into whats below.

You got the begins of fusariam my friend...not good...

First don't get ANY water on that when u water... NONE.. lower ur humidity..

Take some cannazyme PURE and poor it on the wound do that once every day for a few dayz till u see it dry and hard...not at all slimy any more..

I know that will work cause I had this very problem a couple mo. ago... now there may be another or a better product than cannazyme... I just know I use it and it worked

Good luck.. u need to addres this before u LOOSE that WHOLE plant my friend

Thanks, what causes this? My humidity has never been above 40% really dry area I grow in. Is this due to me spilling water on it somehow?

Will get some of that stuff tonight, thanks again.

Water on the "crown" of the plant... the part right where it comes out of the ground.. is usually the cause.. that and airborne bacteria.. in a humid enviroment...

If you can get urself a unovair ozone gernarator... they kill bacteria and fungus.... I got one after my issues... multiple issues... I have been happy as a pig in shit...

Let me just say that a fungicide might work too... I had some cannazyme which breaks down rotting material... roots usually... I washed the plant with it.. a few dayz in a row and kept the water off it... and I DID NOT loose the plant... it was even getting mold type stuff on the stem... did u see that on yours??

no it basically went like this.

From seed to soil was fine.

Soil to hydro (moved, washed roots and made sure all dirt was gone)

Put in hydro, my system is just a pump, bucket, netpot and water+nutes. I might have gotten the pump drip too close to the main stem... but basically everything was great.

Started flowering, and with in a week I noticed that the trunk of the plant as you can see in the pic, right above the mylar I use to keep light/heat out of the res started to have a band around it that was thinning bad. I mean like with in 2 days it was half the size it was before like a rope was tied around it.

Had power go out for a while, could not get to the plant came back a day later (lights off whole time - 3 weeks into flower) I noticed she had drank all her water and had underwatering signs show up.

got her in tap water as fast as I could, put her back in the cab. Checked her the next day and a white band was where the thinning had occured.. i put on a glove and rubbed my finger on it nothing came off and I thought I might have just gotten some nutes on it by accident.

Day later wham it looks just like that picture. Nothing else on the plant is wrong, none of the stems looked bad, but I did notice on ONE leaf stem and I checked the whole plant well after I found it, there was a hard white tiny sized ball that when touched just fell right off the stem. I took that and threw it out and then used a mag. glass to see if there was anything left behind and there wasn't.

No other problems on the plants, the buds are forming and fattening very nice for 3 weeks into flower, no signs of heat stress, no more watering stress, My plants still have a little left over signs of ph problems but I changed the res again with ph balanced water and I am sure that will go away.

the only wierd things were that little white ball and the main stem to roots (pictured above), other then that nothing has really been wrong. My roots are in great shape last time I checked them (yesterday) maybe ill check those today.

temps are always 85-86 during day, 73 at night (I know a bit hot), Humidity has NEVER been above 40% and I have a lot of air circulating around in the cab to try and promote some strength in my stems.

Well water getin on the stem constantly will cause what ur describing.. and washin the area with cannazyme a few times should save the plant.... again keep the drippers AWAY from the crown... heck ANY part of the plant...

If you continue to have problems in the future.. grab an ozone generator

Hydrogaurd (bacillus subtillus) eats pathogens. Recommended strength is 15ml/gal, but I've found you can use it straight out of the bottle for amazing results as a dip, or 1:4 HG:water as a drench. Works wonders at those strong strengths.

I had the same issue with my Sour Bubble when the water was pouring directly on the stem from my constantly re-circulating hydro grow. I just moved the output of the water and treated the wound with hydrogen peroxide via a cotton ball and q-tip daily or every other day untill i saw it was all gone and back to normal.
I ran hydroguard at thyat time in my res but never though about using it directly as a topical application. I dont know about the Cannazyme as i have never used that.

Hope that hepls.

I ordered some fungicide and I treated with HydPeroxide.

Will grab Cannazyme if this doesn't work, I can get it locally for a bit more expensive then I got the fungicide so I wanted to try that first. I Will treat for a couple days and hopefully all is well.

I am a personal use grower, and I don't buy or sell Mary Jane for personal reasons so I am hoping to the great 420god in rastaland this plant pulls through cause im out of some stash a buddy grew for me before I moved.

I'll be damned... this is what killed my last blue mystic (thread: "Odd branch" in infirmary)

It literally went from looking sexy at 51 days flower, to dead brown on the 52nd day... so in 24hrs from life to death. Nasty shit and no idea what caused it (was running DWC as well). All I know is I hope I never ever see it again....

from what I have been reading, our government has been testing this fungis for use in chemical warfare to destory a nations crop over night. I have stopped the growth of it, but now I am seeing random spores (I am guessing are spores) showing up all over on my leaves. Little white powder balls, and then powdery area under the leaves. There has only been 3 or 4, and I have been washing with a mix of hydPeroxide (very little amount, with a spray bottle of ph balanced water) and it seems to be keeping it at bay)

I am very pissed right now and have been keeping a very very close eye on her and trying to clean any infected area's as I can. The buds have yet to be affected, but overall this is not looking good.

I do not want to lose this plant im doing whatever I can to keep it clean until I get the fungicide (no car atm, im about to walk 15 miles to the nearest store to get some though /sigh) You can see where a lot of the leaves are looking like its ph lockout of some sort, but this only started once the fungus showed up and now im having fan leaves just falling off the plant on the bottom (They are not dry, still wet but its like they just had been eaten off at the stem)

Sounds ike you have a good old case of PM bud, and there are a ton of problems that can cause leaf drop. The government could never release anything that crazy. Too much potential to ruin massive amounts of other crops. MJ actually is pretty disease resistant.

I tried using straight Cannazyme on a plant the other day after reading the posts here and it was dead the next day. Hydrogaurd I have used straight on many plants and they have been fine.

Hi yea I have hydroguard on order, too bad its taking the company 30 years to send it, this weekend im going to local area and pick some up instead of waiting.

As for the government, the fungus they were developing was meant to destroy every crop, that was the point in the cold war. They wanted to destroy the food source of another country they might be in a war against. ill find a link to the news article and post it here (I think it was a post on this forum linked somewhere else I read about it.) I Don't have time right now, but ill post it for info reasons.. very interesting read. (Not saying thats what I have either just curious reading as I said heh)

EDIT: Well the hydrogaurd just got here /grumbles something about talking trash and then getting shown up /laugh.

How will I know when this is cleared up? Will the trunk go back to looking like it did pre-infection? Or will it stay the same just not black/white powder anymore

It'll stop spreading, and the spores(powdery shit) will go away. Trunk should dry up and develop some callus tissue where it heals from the damage.
