Problem with my RO filter

I have a RO filter composed of 2 pre-filters and a RO membrane, last time I utilized it was about 2 years ago, but it was used very little and then put away in a box away from dust etc.

Now I took it out, connected to water, and the result is that all the water exit from the discharge at a very high pressure, while no water exit from the filtered water tube.
But if I force close the discharge tube, water starts to come out from the filtered water tube.

What happened? The RO membrane is gone despite not being used or the problem is different?

RO membranes will dry out if not stored properly. Usually in a sealed plastic bag. It needs to be kept moist.
You need a new one.

When i first read your post first thing that popped into my head was, is your flush valve in the open position?

Could be something you've overlooked. Does your filter have a pressure gauge, is it reaching its desired pressure.

Do yourself a favour a and buy 3 inline water taps for your input, waste and pure water lines and when you pack it away all you need to do is close all 3 taps and the system will stay full of water and your membranes wont dry out.

Peace.

thank you for the answer,
the membrane was left in his case with caps on the tubes, in fact it was still moist, but I guess it was not enough
