Problem with mother plant

I have had a trainwreck mother for about 1.5 years now and it was huge but lately it has been losing limbs, Like one limb will just straight up wilt over. It is outside, and is in a 20 gallon tub. I have tried recently to give some epsom salt and super thrive. To ward off losing more branches. Not sure what is going on, haven't been giving them any fertilizer except a little manure. It isn't in direct sunlight, are the roots dying or what can I try?

Fertilizer is important, check your soil conditions (too packed down? Acidic? ???), and give more light. Cannabis would like 6 hours of direct sun per day to flourish.
I'd also recommend re-generating Mom from cuttings so that you can retire Grandma.

That sounds like root nematodes...they are known for killing one side of a plant or having branches die. It you want to save it, take cuts now because plants have a hard time coming out of a bad infestation. Dig up a bit of roots and if you see bumps all over em you're screwed. You can try to treat the soil with a chitin source like crab meal and you may get some predators in there to eat up there young, but other than that I'd make plans for for a funeral.

That happened to my mother plant as well.... I truly suggest you start taking clones and get ready for her to keel over. I do NOT know what it is that is causing this, but I have seen it, and I cringe at the thought...

Damn, I have alot of cuttings off of it, just hate to see her go to waste when i am losing atleast a hp of good bud from her. she is huge. She hasn't really been feed ferts so it isn' that but it could be the nematodes you guys are talking about. But it is only happening to one of them the rest are ok.. Which is weird.

Which is exactly what happened to mine...
Root nemotodes are brutal and relentless, so you have to be the same... You need to utilize some sort of pesticide... Visit the local nursery, tell them you have potted tomato or pepper plants, and ask about pesticides/nemotode destroyers.
And if throwing organics, chemicals or nutes into your your plant makes you cringe, just remember how you are going to feel when the rest of the plant follows suite and visits Canna heaven. When it happened on mine, I assumed it was over fert. and I flushed it, and never added anything to destroy the micro "todes". It started to sour a couple of days later and in 5 days... it was gone.....
I hope you either make a trip to the store or get out the cloning gear FAST! Good luck no matter the choice, just make it fast...

You know, she's an old lady.

Her time might be up, simply.

Cannabis is an annuary plant. It germinates in the spring, grows in the summer, blooms in late summer/early autumn, and fades away when the winter approaches.
You can keep plants alive for longer than that, especially Sativa genetics that have adapted to tropical climates, less restrained by harsh environmental conditions brought on by a temperate zone.

But in the end it comes down to lifespan, which is inscribed in the genetic code. If so, there's nothing you can do about it - except cloning her and start all over. A plant that just about had it will lose in vigor, her clones will equally be slow to root and lack in vigor - or will to live if you prefer. She will also be less resistant to sickness and pests, so root aphids might be part of it.

The best way to protect your genetics is to constantly clone it. If I'm right, it might be too late for your mom.

But see it from the bright side. Trainwreck's everywhere. There's probably at least a hundred growers here on IC that grows her, you won't have any difficulty finding a new cut.

Yea i am not worried about finding another trainwreck since i have so many but sucks losing a old big plant. It has almost all died. I will verify if it was indeed root nematodes, Once she visits the graveyard. The stalk was the size of a quarter such a nice plant.
