Man, I've heard of a lot of these "Jumbo CFL's" being faulty.

Does it's ballast get too hot?

Most of the jumbos should have a small fan inside the ballast box. Does yours?

I've fried out a few of the cheaper 125w CFL's. The higher wattage CFL's put out substantial heat near the tube ends where the cathodes are. If you don't have a clear path for heat to rise passively you'll get in trouble. Even if you do, if your box conditions are hot enough you're going to need active cooling.
