Well, time for a long answer...
The first really impressive strain in my garden was the G13bx Won in an OG contest several years ago... I had a widow cross and lifesaver and skunk as my moms back then, and when a male G popped up, I felt obligated to try to improve my stock... and had some success, and became familiar with the seeding process... On another forum Ms.G won some NYCD f2s made by BOG, and on that site Bog made a comment about the winners crossing them with their best indica...(Billygoats NYCD came from the same contest)... So, I felt obligated to do the G13 x NYCD thing... I am always looking for a better plant, so I germ 15 - 25 new seeds a month, when I find a male 'keeper'(I have 6) I have to decide who to pair him with... SO, Here is the short answer - I imagine the possible results with mums and decide based on my imagination of the combination to be - ... And now to continue the long one... For example The Sour Bubble to improve the flavor of the G13 and the G13 to improve the branching of the Sour bubble... Or, The G13xNYCD Blew my mind, So G13xECSDv3 naturally followed... The Diesel crossed well with the Indica G13, and I had been wanting to do something with this outstanding Oriental Express So the Diesel with the predominantly Sativa OE seemed inevitable... So, I guess the real answer is I breed them when It feels right... But I'm bonging hits of fourplay, so I may not making as much sense as I think I am...
Thanks for the concise answer. As I was picturing your crosses myself. The v3's to the G13 will add a lot of body I'll be watching seedbay for those. I have some of those nycd f-2's from bog no room to grow them yet. And I understand your method now as you try to improve your strains by including the missing element. I apreciate being let into the mind of Mr.G.
