Pre flowering and hermies?

I have a question.. I have some plants that are about 5 weeks old and they were started indoors under 24/0 for the first week and half of their life. Then I switched to 18/6 for about 2 weeks. I had a security brief so they had to go outside for almost a week and when I brought them back in they are back in 18/6. They have showed sex now and im wondering if disturbing the light cycle during veg at 18/6 after showing pre flowers if they will be more proned to hermie? I know that during veg disturbing light cycles doesn't effect them but what if they have pre flowers? I never thought of this before?

Yes. You better keep them on 18/6 until they grow in a good pace again and just then flower them - let them recover from the shock.

i myself would flip the light however you were gonna do it. if they're prone to hermy then they're gonna hermie regardless. better to find out now rather than week 5 flower.

Other than predominancy to become hermi accumulating stress hormones could make the plant hermi as well.

highly doubtful. i stress my plants to the max, light leaks, food, temps, bugs, etc. i have a couple strains that are bullet proof. if it were possible i would get you some clones so you can see for yourself. hermies are gonna come down to mostly if not 100% the genes. if it's not a hermy prone plant nothing you do will make it herm out. maybe possibly running it long. haven't tried seeing what happens if i just keep flowering.

I haven't ever noticed any tendency to hermie from that type of thing, preflowers or not. Showing preflowers is not the same thing as going into flower. Days are pretty long now so the change in light schedule wasn't very much. Your plants probably didn't even skip a beat. You have nothing to worry about.

I've heard that people kick the lights for a week to sex their plants before they finish veg. From what I understand if you let the plants fully recover back in veg and the flowering wasn't for too long (week+) you should be okay. Good luck!
