PPM-3 Flashing light

P

Pandemic

Yesterday I had some lights off and noticed that my PPM3 had a yellow light flashing form inside the case. It flashes about once a second and is in the upper right side. Where the vent holes are.

Not the green Status indicator but a yellow LED form inside the case. It is still functioning. It is out of warranty.

Anyone have a similar experience?

I am running magnetic ballasts.

There are not any high strength RF signals back there.

Humidity is in check 45%-52%

So far I have not been able to find anything on CAP's site or Telaire's site nor any forums I frequent. Is this going to be like the lights on my dash....just put a piece of electric tape over it?

I just got one yesterday and noticed the same thing. I have the AC adapter hooked into a timer so that the sensor goes off when the lights go off, but I don't know if that's going to reset all my settings or not.

I'm still getting used to the thing. I thought I was smart until I tried reading the directions for this thing.

I don't have a CAP, but all NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) CO2 monitors have that little infrared light inside, and most quality CO2 monitors use NDIR sensors. Do not put a piece of tape over it, as it's my understanding that the light is necessary or your sensor won't work (although I've never tried to disable it). It's never screwed anything up for me (yet), but I do find it disconcerting, and I worry that some super light-sensitive strain is going to hermie on me some day.

thats completley normal, i think the circut board has a light on it. now the real problem is that unit likes to stick in the open position, dumping all your gas out. i read all about it myself when i got mine about 6 months ago. mine didnt mess up until a couple of weeks ago, but sure enough it did! when i found it the meter was stuck @ 9999 ppm!

another member made the sudjestion to put the unit on a timer to reset it every couple of hours just in case it sticks again. this will work but its jsut a work around to the real problem. blah! i'm never going to buy CAP again after this crappy meter!

Yes I have the PPM-3 and its 100% normal to see that flashing light inside the unit.I've had mine over 2 years now and its stuck on me only once.I killed power for a second and its worked fine ever since. This was about 6 months ago after well over a year of use. They are the cheapest and probably the least reliable but I've had good luck with mine for the most part
