power usage/limits?

there is an article on todays online Washington Post that is about how much energy indoor cannabis growing uses. they make the point that as it becomes more common, there may have to be a discussion on limiting the carbon footprint & electricity usage of growers.
my thinking is this...as it gets more common (and legal) I believe that more growers will go to small greenhouses for personal grows to take advantage of free sunlight. I have dreamed forever of being able to do an outdoor SCROG using DWC on my back porch...:dance013:

Hell, I want growing to be so commonplace that I can just grow in my back yard w/ no more concerns than I have about tomatoes.

Commercial scale cannabis should all be grown outdoors or in greenhouses, anyway.

The energy footprint of indoor cannabis is atrocious, I'm sure. In a legalized environment, requiring that it be hidden is quite lame.

I agree to having it grown in the open and all, my concern is tomatoes are one very abused plant, with thousands of different strains now out, and many have been GMO modified,
..I'm not wanting any of my weed/strains/phenos fiddled with at that level,

I would like my Angelina Jolie's female bits to remain intact and fully functional for my next male star to make further plants with ....lol

Heirloom tomato varieties are available from a plethora of sources all over the world.

There are already hundreds if not thousands of varieties of hybrid cannabis available, too.

Well keep in mind, that LEO is not the only reason to grow indoors. Even in a legalized world there will still be lots of folks more interested in stealing it from someone rather then growing it themselves. We are a long, long way from it being seen as no more valuable then someone growing tomatoes in their backyard.

i have no problems with rippers getting burried.

I have heard stories of rippers often (in real life)' i have even heard of people who bragged about it (that they have done it and that they plan on looking for fields in the summer)

Thieves are lowest of low.

I think it's great how some of you in the states can shoot at people on your property.

We don't need this atm in canada and i am not sure if we would be better off with lots of people carrying weapons but shooting some thieves might bring some satisfaction. At least you'll know they won't be coming back.

This is absolutely no joke. At my last house, I lived in the ghetto, and I tried growing tomatoes and peppers in my front yard, which got all the sun, as my backyard was covered from end to end in oak trees. Well, the moment the tomatoes started turning red, I began noticing they were turning up missing. So eventually I aimed my webcam at them, through the front window of my house, and in less than 24 hours I saw someone walking down the sidewalk, stop, do a double take, look around to see if anyone was watching them, and then picked ALL the red tomatoes off the plant.

I was so fucking pissed. I didn't recognize the person in the video so I couldn't identify anyone, and I never saw that person walk by anymore. I just wanted to punch them in the throat, that's all.

Sounds like you have been ripped by rippers before, a well thought out plan for deterring these guys is what you need, avoid escalating it with shooters tho, by far is better to grow a distractory crop, of shit hemp, some distance off, or like many here grow in a grow room, ..in many instances rippers actually help a good grower by keeping dumb ass growers outta his block...?

Set up a solar system so that you produce more energy than you use.

If it's grid connected, the power company is required by law to pay you for it!

At least in the US of A.
