Hi there,
Merry X-Mas to everyone, hope it was a good one and an even better New Year from here in Bonnie Scotland.
Rest assured there will be more than one or two fine malts cracked open tonight but, thankfully to Jah there's be more than a couple of fine buds too so.... :friends: lol!.
Anyway, I've been reading through the latest issue of Soft Secrets, where those of you who've seen Issue-6 might have seen Zamalito's interview/article as the International Grower - p41 this issue.
Good on you Zamalito , I like what you're doing with genetics & I wish you only good fortune & great success with the Brazilian Seed Co. my friend!!
The thing I'm interested in is the strain spoken about on p58 - Made In Holland, it's mentioned by the grower as PowerPlay with a very closely related strain called Double PowerPlay which I believe is also known as Double Purple?.
It's 'a purple' or at least has a tendency to turn, what is described as so dark it's almost "black" as really dark purple leaf does do, or that blue/purple hue that the Blue strains have can have the same effect when it's dried?.
It was mentioned about the grower disguising large outdoor plots or at least making them harder to spot from the air as the tops are so dark in colour compared to other strains anyway by hanging red balls etc on them during the summer though to give them the look of a rose or other red flowered plant/bush
Just wondered if anyone knows more about this strain or ideally a source of seeds for it at all?, it sounds well worth a try outdoor here in Scotland as most outdoor strains that finish in Holland will finish where we are here.
PowerPlay & Double PowerPlay/Double Purple are down as being ready to harvest outdoors in S.Holland by late September - mid October.
Yields mentioned are only for outdoor plants, "short plants or late-starts may yield only 150-200g per plant, but under normal circumstances a plant started early and put out April/May should yield 500g", the grower mentioned one 'special' female that gave him 750g of dried bud.
I'm wondering if this strain is related to Amstel Gold aka: Passion#1 as it has the same finishing time and there's the purple thing although that can occur with lots of strains if in cooler temps as you folks will know.
I'd really like to hear from anyone who knows about this strain or maybe you just read the article & are interested yourself?. It was mentioned as being native in the Southern part of Holland around the Nijmegen and Eindhoven, that said, that may have been just added to throw any ill-intended individuals or parties off the scent?.
All da best for 2007 anyways folks ,
Probably speak to you all next year lol!,
Regards, Esskie.
