Hello IC fans,i am a newbie with some troubles,i have powdery mildew in my late flowering outdoor sativas,my buds are getting super ripe and i have about ten days to go but theres mildew especially on my largest plant, help.
POwedery mildew is from high humidity... what is your RH? Even if you kill it, it will come back if you do not lower your RH otherwise it's a losing battle.
well since your outdoors the only thing you can do is prevent it by keeping stuff on your plant and when it comes time to respray that is the only thing you can do.... can't control mother nature
outdoor quick solution to control the stuff baking soda and water will lower the ph of the leaf surface try this before you loose your crop. I like to use a product called green cure but you will have to order it.
Powdery Mildew is never welcome in my garden, but usually not as bad as mold.
Most plants can handle a lighter PM infection pretty well.
The Powdery Mildew normally starts on the fan leaves, and slowly works it´s way to the buds, this is the reason why an average PM infection during the end of flowering is really not a big deal.
I personally would not spray anything on the plants in late flowering, not even the baking soda.
You could apply some baking soda to the fanleaves with a sponge, but don´t spray it, because this way you will also dust the flowers, and the residue doesn´t look nice, plus I don´t want to know how it would taste.
Cut off the lowest fanleaves and even a few stems with popcorn buds, if you grow in pots, place the plants a little more away from each other.
Only water the plants when the top of the soil is really dry.
Mildew is very often confused with mold.
This leads many people to the misinterpretation that ingesting powdery mildew can cause health problems.
Well, if visibly infected, the buds can loose all their bag appeal and even have a crappy smell and taste(uh, taste can be really ugly), but it is not mold.
What could indeed do damage to your health are all of those promising chemical bombs that in many cases won´t even help you get rid of the mildew.
Nonetheless I really don´t like mildew, as it can ruin the bag appeal and taste of a whole crop if the infection is really drastical, and that sucks.
Best wishes to you, and happy harvest,- enjoy your smoke!
