powdery mildew and a portable a/c

I was gifted two portable a/c's from a friend, he has powdery mildew. Is there any way for me to fully clean the portable a/c to use it in my room. i have physan 20 and a good steam cleaner, can i open up the a/c and fully clean every part to use in my room. i dont want pm in my room. Its been sitting in my basement for about 6 months now. Thank you guys so much ahead of time. I love this site!! hope everyone's grows are going well!
