Pot size and plant numbers per 600

i would like to hear what combinations people use per 600 watt light, i have always used 9 x 10 litre pots per 600. and now im thinking of reducing numbers to maybe 3 or 4 and using much bigger pots maybe 25 or 30 litre?

look forward to responses!

thanks

I have had some friends that got really awesome results by only growing a few plants(2-6) under a 600 Watt HPS in big ass pots like 5-25 gallon. Just increase the veg time and it will be totally worth it. The more room you give the roots to grow the more product you will end up with(with proper lighting of course) Grab a few CFL's for side lighting a grow a monster :D you won't regret it! Make sure to use side lighting or trim the hell out of the underneath so you don't end up with those fluffy buds on the bottom though. Or you could just fit like 50-100 plants under a 600 and flower them from seed or give them 1-2 wks veg time for a faster turn around :) whatever you decide start a thread and show us what comes out of it!!

Always found four, five gallons to be the best for my setup..never saw a difference when I tried four ,,seven gal

Instead of using a single 1000 watt lamp, I use two 600 watt lamps (two fixtures, two ballasts, two lamps) to cover the same area. With that in mind, my advice is based on canopy depth...as two 600 lamps will not penetrate as deeply, compared to a single 1000 watt lamp. If you adjust your plant canopy (training) you should be able to fit the same number of plants under two 600 lamps than you can under a single 1000 watter...assuming the growing space is identical.

Assuming 5' x 5' square footprint (25 sq ft), then 1000w = 40 watt/sq ft, and 1200w (2 x 600) = 48 watt/sq ft.

In my particular environment, each 600watt lamp covers 11.25 sq ft, which equates to 53 watt/sq ft (which, IMHO is one goal to achieve...50 watts per square foot).

That said, I use mostly 5 gallon containers and use 1 & 3 gallon containers for testers and plants I run fast (brief veg time). The canopy depth is about 18-24" with most buds weighing in excess to 1.5 grams...and I am certainly north of 1 gram/watt.

ive always grown 4x4 square feet per 600 watt light with 9 plants under each light in 10 litre containers which equates to roughly 2.6 gallons per container. and i wanted to experiment with 4 plants per light instead of 9. now going on most peoples responses 5 gallons which is roughly 18 litres sounds like a good size dont want to get more soil than i need. im thinking to recycle the 10 litre pots from my last grow and plant straight back into them and veg and then repot into 20 litres hoping that should be big enough to hit over a gram per watt happily.

depending on the strain and the veg time around or over a gram per watt that was with a good pheno of powerplant no more than 60grams per plant. finished around 9 to 10 weeks. whenever i tried more indica dom strains never yielded quite so well. i have GDP og kush this time round and VG's Fat bubba f2's and some ECSDH and SSH hazes which all look good i also have a few blue kush from bog which never really grew much tiny dwarf plants but nice buds. wont be doing them again. i want to try the og kush and fat bubbas out in 5gal/20litre pots 4 per light and see how they like it.
