It's been almost 20 years since I read "Marijuana Botany" by Cervantes. Probably the book which got most of us old timers inspired to breed plants. How about a general list of possible genomes for the beginners?
Some off the top of my head which can be selected:
Sativa leaf style vs. Indica leaf style
Sativa high vs. Indica stone
Roots grow out vs. roots grow down
Purple/lavendar coloration vs. all green
White hairs vs. red or pink hairs
Two internodal branches or one internodal branch
Tall branchy Sativa or short squat Indica
Ruderalis early flower (under 24 hour light)
Skunk aroma
Bug resistance
Mold resistance
And of course the endless possibilities for taste, aroma, ratios of thc/cbd/cbn which determine the character of the buzz and which change as flowers ripen.
This is just a start to the list of some of the well known traits.
