Portable AC working nicely.

So I finally figured out how to reduce my temps. Portable AC. And since Fall hasn't arrived yet it couldn't have come at a better time. It's still 90 outside instead of 70's so it still feels like summer. Got my temps down to 83 during the day. Down from 94. I have (3) 600hps with a 10,000btu ac. My last crew was real fluffy due to heat and light distance. But my next crew will be A-1.

Before AC flowering with a 600 and 400hps.

GOOD JOB!
you have 1 of my fav. daysta A/C hoods, with the glass lense.
if you had 3 of thoes with a ventfan you could lower your temps to the 60's or w/e you want (or save energy and run it less)

i have 2200W with the same 10000BTU (2 5200BTU' units) and im bringing my temps down to low 70's during day.

anyways. excelent photos good grow and nice plants!

i got mine from newegg.com.
they had a grip of choices.
but you need a window or a hole to vent out of.
i had a window so its worked out for me :rasta:

What brand portable A/C you guys using? How loud are they? How are they for evaporating condensation like they say they can. Do you need to empty them?

I'll be needing one next yr, can't run a window banger or 2 unit wall system. Need to be able to vent it 9' up into the attic.
I went back 20+ pages in 'growroom designs & equip.' and was surprised to not find a thread on portables. I have a hydro hut in a 14 X 14 rm.

Love to hear how people like them/don't.

Thanks Dhippy. I have 1 Econo Gro w/glass from discount-hydro, 1 Lumatek no glass and 1 Hydrofarm w/glass from mdhydro. Yeah, I realize I could lower my temps if I hooked up a vent fan. I'm a lazy grower. I took me a while to finally conclude I should buy a an ac. I have a window, but I chose the portable. I haven't emptied it yet, but it camewith a plastic drain tube and tray. No worries there. I'll probably drain it in a few weekswhen I bring the 1000 down. It came with an exhust hose, which pushes the heat out the window. I have a 1000 I'm bringing downstairs next month so I'll expect to see temps rise a bit more. I might have to ventfan the room then, but 'lazy' will cross that bridge with I must.
I bought the ac from http://www.kingersons.com/qwa7500m.html. I started with the 7500, but that wasn't enough. Then I got the 10,000 and that solved my problem. My room is 6x10x7. I'll put some mylar up this weekend. Another portable ac site

I saw a litte info about portable ac here on icmag, but as much as i thought. I'm sure something in there would work for the hydrohut.

they say the auto evap, which they do. but it shuts off the compressor while doing so. so no cold air for a while. but you can put a small hose on the back and run it to a bucket and avoid the whole auto evap nonsense.

depending on where you live and what season, it wont even fill up with water.
like right now in so cal the bucket has been dry for weeks.

mine is a whytner. never heard of it. it got reviews.

seriously mang look at newegg.com and find the one on sale, prob alot now since its winter. mine was like $300 ya shipping is a bitch, but they are hard to find for some reason. home depot only had em avail thru mail w/shipping

oh ya circuit city had em too dont know about in store, but online.

they are great and run on a thermostat so you can be worry free about your temps.

...not related... these new winter night time temps are great! my bubbas are late in flower and have been getting strange darkening on end off buds.
today i woke up and looked and 8=====D (a hardon) they had purple tips.

Thank for the help & the links, guys!

Malik, no shit you're lazy! You have heat issues, two reflectors w/ ac flanges, and a fan and you don't hook them up? :bashhead: You will if you move that 1000w down! Get on it!

Anyone else running a portable?

Best wishes for perfect temps!

Well Highlighter I wasn't lying. But the temps are 77-80 the last couple of days without the ac on. We finally got some fall temps outside which allowed me to turn the ac off for couple of days. Next spring/summer I might have to hook up the vent fan. With fall coming the ac should work well until winter. Then I won't need anything but fans. This is great hobby, but it's a shit load of work.
