Portable AC unit

So im looking at expanding my grow, I put my 1k watt HPS into the room and temps rose to about ~90 steady. which obviously is not good. When the door to the room is open they are around 84. still not good. I was going to buy a portacle AC unit, probably around 10k BTU or so. was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where/what to buy one of these?

For the $400 or so im going to be spending on this portable AC unit, does anyone have any experience with one in their grow room? will i be able to keep temps steady at 70-75? a AC unit with 10k BTU is pretty powerful i think , its a normal sized room. I plan on having 2 inline duct fan 6" as well.

Its probably not going to be needed if you're already in the eighties,you can find other means,fans etc if 5 derees or so bothers you.I've used a 9K portable in an 8 by 8 room,its probably going to be real overkill for just that one fixture.I'd try and finneagle some options before spending that 5 hundred bucks over a couple degrees.EDIT 75 degrees may be perfect,but 85 degrees will veg you some beauties,especially if you use a coolo mist humidifier.You do want the temps below 80 during flower if you can though.

I had the same prob in my closet and bought the ac unit, its a soleus 12k btu unit. it worked good. what i did was take the louvres/grill off the front and zip tied 6" ducting to its opening, I reduced it to 4" and plumbed it into the room. it kept the temps pretty nice in my closet but my actual bedroom would get pretty cold and they are noisy. if you actually run them into the room you cant really run co2 as it exhausts lots of hot air to replace w/ the cold air and youd basically be wasting it. you need to be able to exhaust the unit somewhere, out the window (kinda kills stealthiness) or in a crawlspace etc.. some units leak water and shit so i always put mine in a reservoir which is a hassle but if you want cooler temps i supose it the only way to go, hth

you need 3500-4000 btus for 1k, so a 10 k btu is more than enough...you could probably hit the 50s with that AC. The portable ones aren't as efficient as regular window or building ones, but oh well there good enough.

can you just open a window or stop heating from going into that room? going the AC route is a lot for just 1k. Instead of spending that type of cash on a AC you could try some other things... you could try 600 watts ballast or a 600/750 digi ballast since its cooler and still powerfull, or you could air cool your light.

Opening a window is possible, but the room is located in a spot where the window being open it could be easily to see inside. I ordered a 9k BTU portable AC unit I figure it will come in handy eventually when I up the grow to a few k watts. I will be venting the AC unit into my attic.
