Portable A/C Intake Question

hi, i bought a portable a/c with dual hose (one for intake, one for exhaust). does anyone know if i can intake from another room and exhaust out the window? would this be an issue? i know it might be a stupid question, but i just want to make sure. thanks.

Hey casual  I had a few of those portables with dual hoses. The intake hose should be placed outside of the room only if the area you want to pull air from is cooler than your grow room. If not, just leave the intake hose in your room.

If i recall correctly the purpose of the intake hose is to allow cooler air to to be ran over the "coils" inside the ac and help it cool the room easier. Hope that helps some

When I used a p[ortable I had the intake through the wall to adjoining room and exhaust up into the attic in the growroom.

intake hose drawing in fresh air from outside the room boosts the efficiency of the portable ac because it exhausts out of the grow room less air that you just paid to cool down, esp if the outside air is cooler than the temp of the AC. If it is used inside the room you will notice the ability of it to rapidly cool the room go down as it is being counter-productive. Its kinda like driving with the windows down and AC on, the draft gets ya but it doesnt totally cool you.

i was told that the purpose of the intake is to allow the a/c to pull fresh air in from a different area other than the room. single hose a/c's pull air from the room and exhaust out.

American - how did that intake from a different room and exhausting into the attic work out for you?

It worked just fine, but not if you're using co2 enrichment. That is the reason I got one and it turned out to be the wrong move.Even with intake from another room, the unit will still exhaust the co2 into the attic.Couldn't really figure that one out but it is a fact,at least with the dual hose I used

they still pull air out of the room, regardless of where you put the intake tube, they just exhaust LESS air out of your grow room that you already cooled..

some use the air and call it a dehumidify feature, others use a single exhaust hose, others use dual hose, all pull air from the room.

what!? thats why i got this damn dual hose thing! i can't have this a/c waste my co2...i looked at my a/c, the air filter, intake, and exhaust vents are on the back, i'm going to put half of it thru a wall so it intakes and exhausts into a different room and only the front vent will be it the grow room. anyone try this? i think it should work?

Man I was afraid of that, all I can say is try it.Or better yet forget the portable idea a get a kickin window unit,3-4K BTU per 1K of HID light. Also, you want temps at the canopy to be 85 for best results,90 aint bad either.Don't let high temps during flower freak you out like I did,I held myself back in too many ways with the co2 thing.Portable AC's,cyclestat timers for generators, dont halfstep like I did.Get a setpoint controller for your co2 system timers and formulas are nonproductive.Invest a few bucks in a lazer thermometer to get the accurate canopy temp and keep it at 85 minimum with co2 at 1500 PPM and the weight of your plants will increase 25-30%

i ordered the fluke. funny name. definitely looks like an awesome product.

i didn't think that i was half stepping it with the dual hose portable a/c. i don't have a window i can stick an a/c out of. the portable a/c does an excellent job of cooling down my small space. i'm sealing off the a/c so that only the front vent and controls are showing in the room, the back of the a/c will be in another room venting and exhausting in there. i think it should work...hopefully
