Popcorn Buds

A friend of mine crrently has an inside grow.( pictures to follow). Another friend of his told him to cut the popcorn buds to help the main kola's grow fatter. :yoinks: Is this such a good idea? It just seems to me he is loosing product when he cuts the smaller buds.

Peace

Yes trim lower branches. Popcorn sucks!! The smaller buds at bottom of plant dont get much light so they will be light and airy buds not worth trimming, besides they will sap some energy from plant for growing lower buds, when all energy for growth needs to go to tops where light is brightest.

Trim all lower veg proir to going into flowering, no getting rid of "product" getting rid of BS growth to get the best out of your plants

Nice job on the grow, and I must concurr with the trimming of the lowers in order to push more of the growth drive into your mains. Kepp up the nice work tuned into this one.

Thanks n17-toker & weldflash420. Harvest should be the end of March to early April.

I agree that you should trim SOME of the lower branches, cuz lots of times they wont catch up to the ones closer to the light. But, i would do this in veggie stage, or at the very latest early early in the flowering cycle. If your plants are already 30 something dayz in, i wouldnt risk shocking them, then having something drastic happen like they turn hermie on you. If you feel u'd think this is the way to go, i'd wait till next harvest run then try it out. but do whatever floats your boat bro, and good luck! -Opt

Smoke report

Smoke report

Tried some of the dried popcorn buds today. Total head high. Severe cotton mouth. No sighn of munchies as of yet and it's been 2.5 hours. Not bad weed for being cut prematurely. :woohoo: I can't wait till this stuff has aged to be harvested. Should be some fine smoke. :woohoo:

It all depends on available light, if the lower buds have ample light because the room is not full then leave them.
If your whole space is a dense canopy and lower nugs get no light they by all mean trim away if you are in the first couple of weeks of flowering.
If you light is high up in the cab then the lower buds would be out of the productive part of your HID's ligh so again, chop chop, but again the lights intensity will dictate penetration of light.

just some thoughts to help you make your choice

One strain is white rhinox3 which they have 3 plants of. the other 4 are bag seeds. They are using a 450 watt HPS.

:lurk: Good grow man, the one in the first pic is titties. So I believe the consensus is to cut the popcorn buds off especially if you got a canopy going on. :lurk:

I'm confused as to how late in flower this would be worthwhile doing. I'm about six weeks into 12/12 but some of the lower branches are barely showing any flowers. Chop 'em?
