pond pump to pvc?

So I have a 330gph pond pump with a 1/2" outlet. It is for 1/2" ID tubing but it looks threaded. Anyway I want to hook it up to 1/2" PVC and the diameters are not even close to matching. I was wondering if anyone has done this before and has a good solution.

I'm thinking the easiest route is a short piece of 1/2" tubing connected to a 1/2" barbed/threaded fitting, thread that into a thread/slip coupling glued onto my pipe.

Just looking for ideas because I often end up wandering the hardware aisles for way too long looking for the best solution...

God, I HATE going through those isles, not knowing what to buy. End up getting 32 extra parts them what I needed...

Your way sounds legit, But I like to go threaded on both ends....

I had a similar problem. I used heat to expand the pvc pipe. After cooling down its a perfect tight fit and i didnt have to buy any new parts....

Are you sure it's a 1/2" outlet and not metric? You could try an aquatics site, too.

That's how I've done it. I would though recommend that the final piece glued to the pvc be a union. Without the union it is a pain to disconnect the pump because the tubing will twist while trying to unthread requiring you to rotate the pump also. With the union you can break the fitting at the union and disconnect.

pump -> tubing -> barbed/male threaded -> female/slip -> short length pvc -> pvc union -> pvc

That's how mine looked.
