pollinated with hemp

tried my hand at making seeds this season and thought it was a success. kept pollen from a high CBD male to throw at all my winner ladies but when i started pulling them from the sites i painted, i noticed there were way more seeds than i had intended. the more i trimmed the more seeds i found throughout nearly all of the plants.

turns out a hemp farm just outside of our small town didnt pull males and nearly everyones outdoor is pollinated to some extent.

think there is anything to be found in there or is it just watered down garbage? had some beautiful gals so it would be great if these seeds have potential. probably pulled 100 each out of the Ghost and Raspberry Kush.

It's possible that the F1 generation won't be affected but everything after that will most likely be.

It's probably best to get new seeds.

Sorry for you loss.

Depends what your after. You said you pollinated with a high CBD male.
If your looking for CBDs then crossing with Hemp might not be so bad.

If your looking to get high, then the THC will probably be dropped considerably with the hemp cross.

Guerilla grow some damn hemp!

On a side note, I remember a few, like 50 episodes or so ago on Hash Church, Sam talked about trials of Sk #1 grown for hemp and out yielding some of the European "hemp" varieties at the time....

This is going to happen more & more as legalization progresses.

As mentioned above... You were going for CBD & 100 seeds isn't much of a pollination, imo. Why not plant a plot & see what becomes of the plants. You can test for CBD presence at home but cannot quantify the results so why not start with some of those seeds?
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=288029

I had a friend get his crop pollinated last year. Another friend was making bubble w the buds & tossed the used crap out into the garden plot. The resulting plants produced a veriety of plants that still did the trick.

Hi. If you want CBD, why don't you ask for the stubble bud to the hemp farmers?

Some hemp strains have 8% CBD! So you can make oil with those stubble buds!

In fact I don't understand why people are now so excited with CBD strains and everybody want to mess good ganja strains with it.

Hemp is selected by hemp breeders with high CBD and low THC (under 0,2% THC) because CBD won't get you high. In fact smoking hemp buds have been considered undesiderable to smoke until recent times with all this marketing campaign trying to sell us expensive CBD products as the new snake oil miracle. Hemp and its CBD is perfectly legal in most countries and kids learned to not mistake hemp for marihuana really fast by themselves. So Hemp buds for epilepsy treatment shoud be actually easy to get and really cheap. But snake oil entrepreneurs don't like that because they will lose their huge profitable business.

About a marijuana x hemp hybrid, if you look for CBD, the only drawback is that perhaps the CBD % in the bud perhaps could be a little lower due to hemp was breed for fiber or seed not for resin or cannabinoid content. So hemp produces lower % precursors to be turned into cannabonoids.

https://www.newheadnews.com/hemp/hybrids.html

THC or CBD plants roughly explained depends on a gene with two alleles. Bt makes your plant to produce mostly THC and Bd makes your plant to produce mostly CBD.

Good marihuana has Bt/Bt. Modern hemp has Bd/Bd in its genotype (some old hemp strains had the two alleles) When you make hybrids you get Bt/Bd (or Bd/Bt), so fifty-fifty or 1:1. But they usually produce a bit more CBD than THC.

So many plants are really terrible if you want a good high from bud. But perhaps they are usefull for some illness conditions. Some hash and charas strains have this mixed genotype such as some Lebanese and some Himalayan. So you can find in a population plants with all the combinations and all mixed together and selected a little towards the Bt/Bt - THC side can yield a decent charas or hash. But if you smoke a Bd/Bd - CBD bud you will get a headache, :D

In fact autoflowering strains were considered a bad smoking at first due to the fact that Cannabis ruderalis is Bd/Bd - CBD chemotype III. Also the terpenes were not the best. I hope they have been improved nowadays from the last time I smoked one and I sweared not smoke that shit lacking any type of psychoactivity never again, a few years ago, hahahahaha

I am not sure but I think that the new high CBD % strains are developed swapping the Bt for Bd alleles doing backcrosses into high precursor producing marijuana strains. So you have a high cannabinoid precursor content but in the final step they turn into CBD instead THC.

Also if you have a plenty suplly of hemp buds you can try this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CBD/comments/75lubu/cbd_isomerization/

But this info is a bit old and I am not sure if actually you can isomerize CBD into THC that way.

Greetings :tiphat:

How far will hemp pollen travel in a dry climate like Colorado? There is a registered hemp farm less than 3 miles (but downwind) from me and my outside plants are lightly seeded with green immature seeds. I can't decide if I had a hermi out there or if it was the hemp farm. I will run a couple clones this winter and inspect really close for any hermis.

I've heard of pollen traveling great distances. 3 miles would not be an issue for pollen travels at all. Even with you being downwind, I can see pollen reaching you from that farm easily. It would only take a few minutes of the wind blowing toward you, from the hemp farm.

If your entire grow is pollinated I would suspect the farm before a few late nanners. The farm will be releasing DENSE clouds of pollen with each passing gust.

I'll add too, that I had placed a female plant about 1/4 mile away from a male. Dominant winds blew from male to female & I didn't get a single seed. Of course, were talking 1 male, not hundreds.

The DEA considered huge hemp pollen drops once. Looks like cross pollination will be a huge issue for anyone who isn't sealed. Outdoor/GH.

I scrub/filter everything that goes into my flower rooms. Giant outdoor grows all around.
Pollen can travel 100's of miles. Luckily it often dies "on the wing"
