What's new

pollenation seperation?

I was wondering, if one was to grow outside and wanted to fully grow the male plants as well, how far away would one have to plant the male from the female for them not to pollenate? Would it help alot to keep trees/woods between the two?

I think that if there were alot of trees and lower bushes it may act a bit as a screen, and could catch some pollen from the males. But i bet some would be able to get through, depending on how far away your males are. I have always kept mine about 2km away. The wind can carry pollen for quite a distance.

Probably not worth it. It would make more sense just to take clones of your females. Put these out and just use them for bubble.

sorry, i am new to the plant growing. What exactly would be the clones? also what if i had 30 or so 5-6 foot males plants... I couldn't get that much bubble hash out of that?

ditch the males. you'll get frostier trim (and therefore better hash) from all female plants. if you grow 30 plants, unless you are growing feminized seeds or clones, chances are you will finish with between 10 and 20 females. you should get a good amount of hash and bud from that.
clones are cuttings from other plants that root and grow into other plants. sorry if that doesn't make sense, i'm stoned. look around on the site for more info about cloning. just do a search.

edit: oh yeah, good luck with your grow.

Clones are obviously exact genetic copies of the parent plant. A clone will almost always grow exactly the same way as the mom. Keeping a mother plant and taking clones is a good way to preserve a certain strain or phenotype without having to deal with seeds. In answer to your question, clones will grow just the same as the parent plant in which it was taken from. sorry I dont have the time to explain it in better detail right now.

I think it was like 1982 or 83 someone correct me but like 5% of the pollen count in la was from mexican canabis production at least couple hundred miles away though I doubt much of it was viable. It really depends on the environment the terrain how large your plants are etc. Just do the best you can and still be safe. Try to prune the males so they are as small as possible and still provide the pollen you need or better yet clone them and grow them in a window at your house.

So what if I have plants in my bedroom window... don't plants absorb oxygen at night? Is it ok to keep them in at night? I know seems stupid but...

I wouldnt keep them there at night, because cannabis plants need complete darkness. 100% dark. Light at night can cause a plant to herm. Even if it is only in veg. Street lights and other light coming in your window at night would be strong enough to do this.
